Playground is great to relax

It took us a little while to realise why we found it so relaxing to let our kids play here. Eventually we noticed that, whilst there were a number of kids at the playground, there were so few white-australian families there where the parents "assist" their children on the equipment. Normally, we get eyeballed by parents since we don't hover around our kids like helicopters and follow them around to intervene at the bat of an eyelid.

So it was great!

The playground was fenced in with a track for kids to scooter around.

Linger by the river

Footscray Park is a large open space by the banks of the Maribyrnong River. Flemington Racecourse, home of the Melbourne Cup, is on the other side of the river. The park fronts onto Ballarat Road. The park has a number of paths suited to pedestrians. There is lots of room to kick a ball. A good playground will be enjoyedd by the younger set. Footscray Park is a fine plce to linger for while.

Wonderful surprise

Melbourne has a number of large parks and gardens within the city center. This park is at the perimeter of the city center and not a publicized site in travel magazines and very few tourists find their way here. This is a large green space for local citizens to enjoy outdoor activities. A river meanders by the park and there is a board walk along the river for pedestrians, joggers and bikers. There are walking paths in the park to enjoy the flowers and vegetations. A well equipped playground for family with children and shelters that are for family gatherings. This is a wonderful park to spend a few hours to enjoy the outdoor in sunny days.

Beautiful Park (currently)

Footscray Park is a wonderful large open space with beautiful gardens and there’s a great new children’s playground.

Walking along the Maribyrnong River that runs through the park is also relaxing.

The local Council is looking at turning some of the open space into a soccer field. It’s a shame the whole community will lose access to the open space.

Overall, a stunning community asset.

What a Surprise!

Footscray Park offers both locals and visitors a variety of experiences. Families in particular are well catered for as there are a great range of activities. As well as modern up to date play equipment there are some wonderful reminders of yesteryear. This park has some features which go back to Edwardian times.
What is particularly noteworthy is the vast size of this park in what in the past was a working class suburb! Previous Local Councils must be applauded for their forethought.

Beautiful Water Features

The Park is alongside the river and has water features (including ducks) within it. There is an abundance of grass, plants, shade trees, playgrounds, paths, shelter, public toilets and some BBQs. It is a great place for a picnic.

Great Park

First visit to Footscray Park in over 20 years and what a pleasant surprise. Luscious green and plenty of old trees, paths meticuosly maintained with great views of river and racecourse.

Such a lovely and clean park

We have visited the park with the family in summer and it was clean and fresh air with beutiful green and lushers big leaves and enjoying a nice picnic for the day.
