Every beer lover should visit breweries. It is a great experience to walk around the environment and inhale the smell of beer brewing. On our tour we had a great guy telling us all about the brewery, Betty Stogs and more. As usual with tours at breweries it ended with some tastings. I couldn't believe there was such a big difference on the same brew depending on if it was on keg or cask.

Really informative, laid back and friendly. Tom did an amazing job and it was very interactive. Everyone here is passionate about what they do.

Had a very informative brewery tour with Luca, who was lovely and very knowledgeable. Such a surprise to see all Skinners brews made in such a relatively small space. Had a good amount of tasters following the tour and then a free pint on top of that. Really good value and would definitely recommend it. Lovely staff behind the bar too. Thank you.

Great tour, from a little brewery with loads of character.
Luca was a most excellent guide for our tour, he was able to hold our attention and is clearly both passionate and knowledgeable about this brewery. Almost all the beers brewed here were to my liking, and those that weren’t my favourite my farther in law enjoyed so there was beer to suit every taste. Lovely atmosphere in the outside bar, only wish we’d been there earlier on our holiday so we could have enjoyed it more.

Would highly recommend if you are in the area. Fantastic atmosphere with amazing beer, evening entertainment and Lovely food supplied by a local business called Mange Tout. Will definitely be coming back.

This review relates to your pub, The Old alehouse. We were quite disappointed in the service and attitude of the staff last evening who were more interested in their phones and chatting with friends than a totally serving customers. We were not made welcome and will not be in a rush to return. Such a difference from s few years ago where we received a wonderful service.

Come down to a business I run on a farm outside truro pretty frequently
Usually stay at the alverton and never venture out
Team beers this evening at skinners brewery after a pretty momentous day for the business

Huge fan of Skinners brewery already, as our favourite pub (The Old Ale House) is a Skinners pub. The Tap Yard is such a great addition to the brewery and as it's under cover and has outdoor heaters, you can go whatever the weather's up to, which is handy being in Cornwall!
Friendly staff, beautiful space and a lovely different option if you fancy something other than the usual pub environment.

Skinners Brewery is a short walk away from the town centre in Truro and now sports a newish outdoor drinking space which opened earlier this year. Branded the Tap Yard bar and cafe to give its full name, it is a large covered space with plenty of bench seating and wall heaters, and then a large serving bar that has several cask pumps and keg taps dispensing most of the current Skinners range.
You have to go inside for the toilets and here you will find the original Tasting Room with its views of the brewing equipment and the smaller Snug room still in situ for when the weather doesn’t allow outside drinking.
You can find all the same products in their city centre tap pub, the Old Ale House, but I thought the new external space was a good addition to the brewery and thought it worth the walk from the town centre to seek it out.
It’s closed on Sunday but open the rest of the week from 11am to 6pm and til 10.30pm on a Friday and Saturday.

Are babies in pushchairs allowed?

Hi Sheila,
Babies are welcome in pushchairs in the visitors centre area of the tour and shop. Babies and children cannot go on the actual tour through the brewery production area.

Hi. are well behaved dogs allowed on the tour? (ps he's tea total :0)
Hi, well-behaved dogs are allowed in the visitors centre area but not into the actually brewery. Someone would have to be with the dog at all times as they cannot be left unattended. Hope that helps!

I will be traveling to Cornwall on 26 July and will be staying 5 days. I wondered if I stayed in Truro would it be possible Iravel by public transport to some of the other towns. I am interested in
Pretty towns and interesting museums or historical buildings. I have previously visited padstow and port hardy. I have found it is only 20 minutes by bus to st Agnes.
It is possible depending on where you want to go. Buses in Cornwall aren't always frequent or reliable but Truro is probably the best base for getting around by bus. You can always get the train too which goes up through the county towards Bodmin and onwards (good to stop and walk to Lanhydrock House) or down towards St Ives and Penzance.
If you want to go somewhere off the beaten track (places such as Polkerris or Menabilly for example) you'd honestly be better of hiring a car and getting a good sat nav! There is a lot of Cornwall which isn't really accessible by bus and that would be my best suggestion for making sure you get to see whatever you like.
If you want to look at buses the Cornish one is called First Group and shows the routes.To get to smaller places you might be looking at connections too. Happy to advise if you had any particular places in mind :)

Good Morning I was in my local near Guildford Surrey last night and questioned the Landlord why he hasn't stocked Cornish Knocker as a Guest Ale for months. He told me he had been informed that Knocker is now not available in Casks, is this true ?
This is my all time favourite Tipple which I came across many years ago when my Children were at University in the West Country.
When my local did stock Knocker it would sometimes go in one session everyone loved it !!

Hi John..I work at Skinners and Cornish Knocker is definitely still available in casks, if your landlords keen to still stock it get him to call the brewery and we will make sure he gets some more up your way:) Happy to hear you like the beer...cheers.
