I actually live next to the canal and I can see it out of my window and I love watching the barges go up and down, they often moor up outside. I also like people watching and there are plenty of them using the tow path, the bikers can be a bit impatient trying to get past people, they do not have the right of way and should be a bit more aware.
I just have to walk out of my building and walk 10 yards and I am on the towpath, if I walk about half a mile I can see the Bingley 5 rise locks which is a major feat of engineering and which is quite fascinating to watch when boats are ascending or descending. From there it is a short walk into Bingley town centre.
The canal is a nice place to walk along as there is always something to see, whether it be wildlife or people and you can walk the entire length of it if you feel very active

We were staying in Skipton overnight and had a lovely walk along the canal, lots to see and the Canal bar was a welcome resting place!

Having cycled this canal it is a really lovely route. Along the way are many lovely towns and everyone we encountered was friendly. It has a lot of natural beauty. However, it would really benefit from more signposts along the way to inform tourists of exactly were they are and which towns/villages are close by. The terrain is also quite rough for most of the journey. I wouldn't recommend it for most cyclists unless they had great suspension and were used to that type of ground. Just do your research well before heading that way as only some sections have a smooth path.

Had a cruise on the canal with Sunday roast. Loved looking out of the window at so much to see. Particularly liked the memorial to the Polish airmen who were killed emehrn their plane crashed in the war.
We have walked other parts of this canal in Bingley and Saltaire and there is so much to see on every stretch

We had an absolutely amazing time. This trip was bought as a gift and we truly enjoyed it. The food was good and the service was excellent. The views were an added bonus.

Leeds and Liverpool Canal is a water channel in the center of Skipton, a town in the middle of England. In fact, if you walk around the town, the castle, the market, I am sure you will see this place. It is ok, I came here in winter and I think that it is not possible to go with a boat, but in summer you can. A nice water channel, not more.

We cruised the Leeds and Liverpool Canal by hiring a narrow boat for 2 weeks and the weather was brilliant, the scenery fantastic.
Many good eateries on the way too. Not much cooking for us, we were on holiday!

A interesting circular walk alongside the canal, over bridge and back into town. Several houseboats and you can also book a trip on the river. Enjoyed seeing the reflections and different buildings

The walk along the canal is so interesting, in parts you see all the barges and there's quite a lot of very old buildings. If you take a left turn over the bridge you get to see the rather large housing estate and back into Skipton

Looking to do a charity event this Easter spanning the entire length of the canal. Does anybody know of any children's hospices/hospitals that are nearby to the route?

Hi, We are picking up a boat in August from Silsden boats and we are not having a lot of success finding information about pubs to stop and eat or moor up too along the way . Any suggestions much appreciated.We will be heading towards Skipton.

If you moor close in to Skipton you don't have to wander far before you find a pub and pretty much all of them are good ... not that I frequent them all but I've not heard a bad word ... Personally I would recommend The Narrowboat or The Woolly Sheep from my own experience. Hope you enjoy Skipton and hope the weather stays fine, x
