Took the wee lad on it as an experience. He loves trains so he enjoyed it. Nice views along the bay towards the causeway. Thought it was reasonably priced for what we got. Coaches were clean.

Two points review for many reasons.
1) like many places in England and NI, they try to milk people's money in the worst possible way. First of all, for those wondering: YOU DON'T NEED A TICKET TO VISIT THE CAUSEWAY. The ticket is only for the museum and the facilities, and when I say that, I mean that you cannot even get in to use the toilets. Not a problem since there are other toilets nearby, I just find funny how even the simple use of toilets is denied if you are "not a ticket holder".
2) The bushmill railway parking ticket (10 minutes uphill walking from the main facilities) IS AN ABSOLUTE RIP OFF for singles or couples. £9 per car, and this when the railway doesn't operate!!!. If you belong to these two demografics, just park in the free parking in town, and the buses (not sure about the sunday times though) for £2,80 return, will drop you at the top of the hill.
3) The giant causeway road is well kept and the shores are patrolled by people who make sure nobody ventures too close to the rough sea. Fair play on that.
4) There were clear signs forbidding the use of drones, yet there was a guy flying one and those very patrolling people didn't say a thing. I didn't get my drone out respecting the rules and someone just got away with it.

Causeway/railway station.
The causeway itself is free to do. Well worth the view and you can walk down towards it without having to pay inside the visiting centre.
Unfortunately the day we arrived the centre was closed so we wanted to just find somewhere to stop and feed the baby. We drove to the railway stations just across from the causeway, spotted a little tea/room cafe. Had planned on parking up and heading inside to grab coffee tea cake for adults and feed the children. The carpark waw empty minus one car. A woman who had paid her 8pound parking but realised she didn't want to park up there handed us her ticket on the way in. So we took it knowing we were planning on spending money inside the coffee shop (3 adults, 2 children, 1 baby). The staff member inside (yellow highvis jacket) stormed out towards us having spotted the exchange of ticket, and ignorantly and aggressively told us to basically pay our own 8pound or f-off. As I said, the entire car park was empty and nobody was sitting inside. We wouldn't have been anymore than half an hour and probably would have spent 30/40 pounds in food inside. So he basically lost out on money for the sake of himself pocketing 8 pounds. I did explain we planned on going straight in to order food, and he was having none of it. His loss. Pure arrogance. Wouldnt dream of going back myself for the sake of rude ignorant people.

A 25 min slow tram - allows you to see the views. Bottom car park free - and you can then visit the causeway (be careful of tram times as you will probably need an hour half min to do it justice). Not sure about previous review on costs £6 return for adults and this seems reasonable as it’s run by volunteers and can’t be cheap to maintain. Nb top station in great condition but bottom station is poor condition and be careful on the platform as very uneven.

Robbery. Last time i was there, it was free. Now you have to pay £13.50 per adult and £6.75 per child if you want to see the visitor center. If you want to avoid it you can park at the causeway railway at £8 fixed rate. If you park in the road you could get a fine since there is a double yellow line.
The scenary is beautiful but the greed of the locals and the NI Tourist board is terrible.
A tourist trap for yanks and asians.
Better value for money in the cliffs of moher or anywhere in the Republic of Ireland.

Total disaster. Phone day before and told can not pre book, but if you show up at 12.15 for 13.00 train, should be no problem.
Arrived 12.15, told can not see getting on train as it depends on those coming from Bushmills and looking to return back to bushmills. We were party of 4 adults and four children with oldest child being 8.
They dont have an clue on tickets sold between stations. Not computerised system.
When discussed with manager I quote his own words " I dont care".
Who every funds this need to review the funding, and the staff need training on manners and customer service.
And why not able to pre book. Would solve lot of trouble.

Masks should be mandatory on a packed train , amount of people not wearing them although signs said they should, staff should advise people especially with numbers rising , very uncomfortable environment people coughing , would have been nice journey otherwise

We absolutely loved this trip with our young boy and baby. Had such a good time. Shame it broke down so we had to walk back . But these things happen and to be honest it's such a lovely walk anyway. Will definately go again and would thoroughly recommend 👌

We were passing after a three hour walk along the Causeway Coast. Everywhere else was still closed, but the gentleman preparing the station for the resumption of services was very happy to let us use the facilities, and to serve us coffee. That simple kindness made a big difference to our enjoyment of a couple of days on the North Coast.

There are several ways to see Giants Causeway.
1) Goto the National Trust car park and do the full visitors experience. This will cost £13 for adults, £6.50 for kids or £32.50 for a family ticket. This includes parking, access into the visitors centre and a tour guide down to the Causeway. There's a cafe and loos inside the visitors centre.
The walk from the centre to the Causeway is about 15 minutes. It is a tarmac road and footpath suitable for all, kids, prams, wheelchairs, slow walkers etc. Its uphill on the way back.
2) Park in a field off Runkerry Road for a few pounds and walk to the Causeway for free.
3)Get the train. The train runs from Bushmills station which is on the B145 Ballaghmore Road opposite Tramway Drive. It is not very well signposted! The car park is free and holds around 35/40 cars.
You can get on the electric train here. It costs £20.50 for a fa⁹ pushchairs and wheelchairs and is a 2 mile walk.
At the other end is Giants Causeway station. There is a cafe selling a limited amount of hot and cold d⁸ Causeway. The coastal pathway is not suitable for wheelchairs but will take a pushchair. The views are spectacular. You can climb over the rocks to the Causeway which adds a little more interest or stick to the road.
It's free to goto Giants Causeway, you just need to park the car at one of the above spots. You don't have to go via the National Visitors centre⁸ camera and a picnic or drinks and have an awesome time.
Train times as follows;
From Bushmills;
11.30, 13.30 & 15.30hrs
From Giants Causeway;
11am, 13.00hrs, 15.00hrs.

I have some friends coming from England shortly and I am planning on taking them to Belfast, I have booked accommodation for 3 nights, this will give us 2 whole days there. Is there a train service from Belfast to the Giants Causeway or anywhere near it please, or a scheduled bus service, not a tourist coach?
