We visited the gardens as part of a birthday treat and I was wasn’t disappointed. The gardens were beautiful even in late September. It was a pleasure to walk round and enjoy the relaxing atmosphere. The lady in the ticket office was lovely and very helpful.
We had lunch in the cafe and it was first class. Highly recommend

Visited today 16th September. A hidden gem of a garden, loved the meandering paths through the gardens. So much to see too. Lovely friendly staff who were all very helpful. Lovely cafe and staff and lots of cake and pastries despite being short staffed (Covid induced) and a reduced menu.
Would return again.
NB
Whilst waiting to pay owner came out to talk to a couple one of whom was in a wheelchair. After a short conversation the owner said to bring the car in (parking is a little way down the road )and let him park in the Manor .

Beautiful gardens. Knowledgable and helpful staff. Clean and tidy cafe with good tea. Well worth a visit. Wear sensible shoes as quite steep in places.

Ok it was a lovely sunny day, but still the gardens are stunning. Terraced and set with stone ornamentation, some original Italianate C15 marbles and figurines, the colours in the gardens will depend on the season of your visit.

It is as accessible as an historic hillside garden can be, something that all open gardens can suffer from. The gems must include the recently restored cloisters which are quite simply beautiful. There are little hidden extras that are still coming to light as overgrown areas are gently being taken back. A rill here and spring head there. It greatly adds to the feeling of discovery as you wander the smaller pathways and steps.

The cafe offers a small range of good quality food, Covid is currently making staff supply difficult here, as everywhere else. Staff are friendly and knowledgeable if you have questions just ask.

The road access is tight but that is not the venues fault, not is it in their gift to change. The car parking is generous once there.it

Give it a try. Remain open minded. Relax and enjoy the space. You cannot be disappointed.

Stunning garden and amazing restored cloisters. A wonderful afternoon with the added bonus of tea and cake at the new cafe, which in itself is a beautifully converted building that blends in with the Manor House.
The gardens are terraced and full of mature trees, ponds and Italian relics set on a hillside overlooking the green valley. I will be returning!

What a hidden treasure!! We were an educational group of 20 and received such a warm welcome. Wandering around the gardens was idyllic and the view from the cloisters super. We will definitely return to view the gardens and enjoy the delicious refreshments. Thank you.

I have visited Iford Manor Gardens on a number of occasions and am always struck by how it varies through the seasons, often week by week!

I am surprised at the reviews below and confused as to what people found to dislike. The garden is enchanting, bewitching and could be described as a paradise to get lost and unwind in. Because that it exactly what you do, you relax and unwind from the moment you walk into the gardens.

The gardens were looking beautiful during my visit. The late summer flowers, offering us a final few weeks of splendour, the last of the late blooming wisteria, the Great Terrace looking wonderful, as always. This garden captivates me like no other.

The entrance fee of £7.50 per person is eminently reasonable, some would say an absolute bargain, for the privilege of enjoying such lovely surroundings. The prices of food and drink in the café is on par with other places, yet the quality seems so much better, with some of the best coffee I have ever tasted.

And now there is the addition of the stunningly beautiful café and restaurant, which is simply delightful. I enjoyed a latte and a piece of delicious cake in beautiful surroundings, and as I did so, scrumptious looking platters were passing my table on their way to lucky recipients, so I must come back and try one of those.

I must also mention the staff. The lady in the ticket shed was delightful and informative and the staff in the café were friendly and efficient.

I will be back.... again and again.

Oh how very very disappointing! I have been several times to Iford in the past 10 years and it has always been short on plantings and colour, relying on its heritage of Peto construction 90 years ago. I thought with the appointment of Troy Scott Smith whom I greatly admire, it would be filled with interesting plantings and colour.......none! The lovely herbaceous borders on each side of the long steps screamed out for interesting plantings and muted colourings. there were many weedy patches and VERY little of interest. Yes the cloisters had been repaired, and a few of the steps, but these are not of horticultural interest What has happened??? we were all very excited to see the beginnings of a restored Ifor, but we will have to wait longer?. Luckily I am an RHS member so did not have to pay, as I might have demanded my money back!

The road to the gardens is narrow and challenging; one’s expectations are heightened when the impressive stone bridge which spans the river comes into view.
The promise of spectacular floral displays seems to be confirmed when buying tickets at not inconsiderable cost.

Then the sad, neglected and forlorn horticultural spectacle reveals itself in all its ignominy.

In short, there is a reason why these gardens were voted best in the U.K. decades ago. This is a flower which wilted and died long ago.

The gardens were beautiful, however it doesn't take long to go around it. It's expensive for what it is. We couldn't see any blue badge parking and definitely not suitable for wheelchair users.I have limited mobility and this was difficult to get round - very steep and uneven steps and very few benches. Even with walking very slow, still took less than 40 mins to go round the garden
For me this is between a 2 and a 3 star.
The location is lovely and as are the gardens.
There are toilets on site, however in the accessible toilet, there was a bin right in front of the toilet - this would be better if it was moved as it did make it difficult to use.
The cafe on the other hand was good, a good selection of gluten free cakes which were very tasty. The cafe staff were also very friendly and sitting in the courtyard adjacent to the cafe was a lovely location.
If I was in the area again, I would maybe go to the cafe again but probably not the gardens itself.
