Wonderful day out. Our guides were wonderful, very knowledgeable about the islands, the local wildlife and geography. Also able to give a bit of the history of the area. Two of our group members are nervous of water and had never been on a boat before, but were made feel at ease with the confidence of the guides and thoroughly enjoyed the day. The island itself is beautiful, but I would recommend good walking shoes or boots, with sold grips and a raincoat or windbreaker type jacket. The weather was fantastic on the day but the wind at the islands, especially in shaded areas is cool enough. We brought a packed lunch and drinks, but were provided with tea/coffee on the island. Bring a bag to bring home any waste also as there are no bins on the islands and all rubbish must be taken back to the mainland. It was a lifetime dream to set foot on the Great Blasket Islands and I'd highly recommend this tour to anyone, Irish or international. It's a wonderful experience. We were lucky enough to see the seal colony on the island in their pupping season and to be entertained by gannets and dolphins on our way back to land. It was magical.
