We had an afternoon open and had the opportunity to sign up for falconry at Mount Falcon House. The tour started with a talk about peregrine falcons while the falcon was sitting on our presenter’s (and our) glove. Daniel did a great job describing the training and background information on falcons. We went to the aviary and saw snowy, barn, horned, and gray owls. We also saw a few types of hawks. We picked up a Harris hawk for the “fly.” Imagine taking a hawk on a walk. Daniel and our group would walk 20 yards and give the hawk a signal and treat and it would fly forward and land on our glove. It was an interesting and informative activity. This tour definitely exceeded expectations!

Even after a small hitch which was quickly rectified by the wonderful Caroline working on the front desk the experience completely outdid any expectations we had. Martin was amazing and we could have listened to him all day.. his passion and enthusiasm is infectious . He was amazing with our son who was nervous and afraid of pigeons 🤫 and my husband who has limited movement in arm. Again only one thing to say OMG and thank you

My co-workers decided to treat me to an afternoon hawk walk with Martin & Iza! We had such a brilliant time learning all about the different types of birds, the attention to detail and in-depth knowledge was just amazing! I found myself immersed in the whole experience even though I am not a huge animal person I instilled my trust into Martin and Iza and even got to hold some of the birds! Despite some crazy photos of how I looked I really thoroughly enjoyed it! Such a hidden gem on our doorstep, I will be sure to recommend this to visitors! Thanks, Martin & Isabella we will be back!!!

We were fortunate to do the Hawk walk with falconer/bird caretaker Izabela who was simply amazing, showed great love and respect for the birds, and demonstrated an endearing way of interacting with the birds whilst providing us with a ton of information. The entire event was very up-close and personal - we did have a small group of just 3 people - and very different from a typical raptor/bird of prey show where you see the birds do tricks from a distance. We got to hold the birds - falcons, several different species of owls, and American hawks - on the glove regularly, pet them, feed them, and look them in the eye. It was absolutely spectacular. Izabela regularly encouraged questions or would check if we had been able to take enough photos, being a perfect and professional host whilst never losing sight of the birds. She was very clear about what was about to happen, explaining notable differences between the behaviors of the bird species, with clear instructions on how to behave and not startle the birds. We first spent a lot of time with the falcon, and different owls in the falconry itself, and then went for a walk through the woods with an American hawk, much as if we were out hunting as a pack with this majestic bird. she’d fly from branch to glove, and now and then run alongside us over the ground, looking exactly like a miniature velociraptor on the hunt. We were completely delighted getting so close to these beautiful birds, and very impressed with Izabela - looking smashing in her full falconer gear. We definitely recommend this unique treat to everyone!

We had our 9 and 11 year old with us and were looking for something to do for the afternoon and my wife suggested Falconry. I was reluctant about spending the time and money to try Falconry- I had never even heard of it. What a pleasant surprise. We were met and led through the whole process by Martin, who was impressively knowledgeable, friendly and great with the kids. Martin introduced us to and fed his group of birds before taking us out for a great walk throughout the estate teaching us the Falconry craft.
This was unlike anything any of us had experienced and we would highly recommend it. Kudos to Martin for his passion for the animals and Falconry, encyclopedic local knowledge and for being an excellent host.

Martin, our falconer, was clearly passionate and highly knowledgeable about his birds of prey. He spent almost 2 hours with us and our 3 children aged 7-11, who have put this at the top of our list of hoiday highlights as the most unforgettable experience. While not cheap, we felt we got good value for money and something that none of us will ever forget. Martin's enthusiasm and humour is infectious, though I wonder if some Americans can understand his lilting (and lovely) Northern English accent.. Highly recommend!

My daughter and I loved the falconry tour! Our guide Tom was very knowledgeable and amusing. The tours says it's about an hour but he asked if any of us were in a hurry and spent almost 2 hours with us. The birds are amazing and it was very interesting to learn more about them. It makes you want to get a Falcon or owl for yourself!

We went on the hawk walk during our stay in Mount Falcon. Our guide brought us through the woods and we took turns wearing a leather glove and the hawk swooped down through the trees and landed on the glove to eat the food off it. Amazing experience!
