Beautiful village we stayed nearby but enjoyed a couple of days around the village had drinks in The Blue Loo very friendly staff are in the carpark at Quills best buritto ever

Recently drove this mountain pass from the Cork side. A bull was blocking the road at the start. Thankfully he moved aside of his own accord. The road is steep in the early stages. Had to change down to first gear on two occasions. Road was so steep. Car is a 1.2. Also realized that the handbrake had to be fully pulled up for it to work. Will check in advance in future. Near the top there is a steep drop to the valley floor. Then come to a point on the road where you see nothing on your left or in front of you. Only a wall of rock on the right. Road is a downward turn to the right at this point. Was quite humid at sea level. Chilly and windy at the top. Thankfully met no car coming against me.

Beautiful scenic drive in West Cork with rugged landscape. We started at Bonane and drove towards Glengarriff.
It's not half as scary and dangerous as other reviews make out! It would be a shame to miss out on this lovely drive and I would definitely recommend!

Unlike some other reviewers we actually chose to drive over Priest's Leap. There are warnings at both ends of the drive so if you're a nervous driver (or passenger) I would suggest turning around and finding another route. We rather enjoy little jaunts on single track roads but, I have to admit, this was a little hairy at times with sheer drops and the road seemingly disappearing in front of your car bonnet. Loved it!

What a beautiful pocket of the South West of Cork, its amasing views, colours, shadows, streams, sheep and its stunning hiking possibilities. An amazing place to visit

We were fortunate to have a professional driver who knew the road. The views are spectacular. The experience was intense. We enjoyed it, but if you only get here by accident -- by GPS, it seems! -- then an accident likely will happen. Saw one car coming the other way -- they were gripping the wheel in total fright. The Leap (pronounced"lep") is around the peak of the road. You will NOT be surrounded by tourists, and most guides do not know the road. If you do it, do it in full daylight -- and with full insurance for your vehicle!

Like many others we were guided onto this road by GPS on the way to Bantry from the Ring of Kerry. If you see a sign for priests leap don’t do it. If you do decide to make sure all of your affairs are in order because you may not be coming home in one piece. The most terrifying road I have ever been on.

Like lots of others we drove this route by accident but we were so lucky. This morning was sunny and we set off at 7am so we drove the whole route seeing just one cyclist and lots of sheep and cows. The animals were sleeping on the road, as it was drier than the grass! I am a confident driver but in a mini I did need to be careful to drive off centre to protect it a bit as it is fairly low to the ground. Dad got out to move 6 very obstinate feeding cows and their calves which made for a bit more fun. The views were so stunning and we still made it to our whale watching trip on time, so all was good.

Love the Beara peninsula for its wonderful scenic mountain passes and roads. Thinking I had most of the wonderful roads covered this was suggested recently so staying in Bantry for a few days I took a spin. If you are not a confident driver do not undertake. This is a challenging road/mountain pass with very few opportunities to pass if you meet anyone on road. stunning views on a clear day well worth a spin. Not advisable in any vehicles low to ground as asking for trouble in places. Great photo opportunities. Stay safe and happy motoring.
