The name of the sculpture comes from a poem written by the famous Australian Henry Lawson, "The Babies of Walloon", and can be found in Walloon a little over ten kilometres west of Ipswich. This beautiful piece of artwork was created to memorialise the tragic drownings of two young sisters in 1891.

The sisters can be seen holding holds standing in the waterhole surrounded by water lillies. On either side of the sculpture are railway sleepers inscribed with the words of the poem. Out of such a tragedy comes a timeless beauty.
