Easy to get to, plenty of signposts on the roads. Large car park area. Pay and display with Blue Badge holders free. Toilets at the car park. Lovely walks around the lake, gardens and a fascinating church / graveyard to visit to which is within the grounds. You can't go into the hall / house itself but the whole place is a very interesting and enjoyable place to visit for 2- 3 hours or so. Gift shop and cafe in courtyard areas along with toilets. Mens toilets pretty grim though it has to be said. All in all for a free place to visit, minus the car parking - this place is a great place to visit if you haven't been before.

Fantastic place. Very well kept grounds and so many little surprises along the way for little ones or four legged friends to explore.

Although the castle itself is a bit run down and the stables need to find a new lease of life the whole place is a magical place to visit, I would describe it as frozen in time as the modern world has been kept out so far. The grounds are superb with lakes and follies and beautiful walled garden. Definitely worth a visit

Well, it was a rainy day but I didn't expect it to be so deserted! Not another car in the car park when I arrived about half past ten. I still had a great wander around and through the walled garden where the bright purple callicarpa berries glowed even in the rain.

Plenty of parking(pay and display), this area is looked after by the local authority and overall was clean and tidy.
Beautiful gardens and estate to explore, the Italian gardens especially and part of the castle is open as a tea room.
River walks, forest walks, free to everyone.

Have not been here for years so lovely to find it again. Mainly looked around the area near the castle as we were really there to attend an event across the road. On the surface looks well maintained but the gardens really need attention - weeds, etc., growing through the sculptured bushes etc. Really could benefit with signs explaining the different areas. Despite the negatives would recommend as a great park.

Visited today Thursday 14th July 2022. Not been for a while. had a lovely walk, wasnt too hot either. Wasnt too busy. its a great place to get away from it all and so near to home.

Lovely walk round the Park and lakes , quick swim before a coffee break in the glorious sunshine.
Parking great value £3 for 4 hours and the Park , Castle area and Gardens all free to enjoy.
Lovely topiary in the Italian Garden.
Watts cafe / tea room in the courtyard a bonus.
Well worth a visit ...

Nice park to walk around and good it has more than one set of toilets, wish the park had a bit more for toddlers and the ice cream man is a rip off being at least £4.50 for a basic ice-cream without flake!

Ideal for anyone looking for leisurely walks around the parkland area. The castle/house is unfortunately not open to the public, due to it being in an unsafe state of repair. The local council does have plans to renovate the building, but this will take many years. There is a small café, currently offering only outside seating located in the main courtyard area. Ample car parking on-site, which is pay and display basis.

Is the castle and grounds wheelchair accessible? Are the grounds hilly or is it flat? Are the paths mainly concrete or gravel?

There are some hard paths that are wheelchair accessible round the courtyard and cafe and immediately round the castle with views of the lake. Other paths are gravel or over grass

You can park the motorhome in the small area where horse boxes park. This section of the car park is to the right of the main entrance as you drive in and there are some toilets opposite. Enjoy your day.

Elvaston Castle is now open so presume the formal gardens are also, but there no amenities available at the moment.

Hi. There is an area where horse boxes park on the right hand side as you go through the main entrance. As other reviewers have said, contact Elvaston Castle direct for more information

The cafe closes at 4:00pm during the week and 4:30 during the weekend - it may be open till 4:30 next Monday with it being the bank holiday
