The stylized Camuna Rose is the symbol shown on the flag of the Lombardy Region.
The National Park of rock engravings of Naquane, certainly the testimony of an ancient civilization of 5000 years that has left its mark in Lombardy.
The National Park of Rock Engravings of Naquane, in Capo di Ponte, was the first park established in Valle Camonica in 1955. The area covers over 14 hectares and is one of the most important complexes of rocks engraved within the UNESCO World Heritage site no. 94 “Rock Art of Valle Camonica”
I visited the park in 1985, a fresh novelty of the Lombard culture assumed as a World Heritage Site.
I revisited the park in 2005, and then later in 2024, convinced that modern technologies would make the park much more usable and rock engravings, thanks to new technologies already seen abroad, much more understandable and identifiable on rocks where dirty mold moss and different light conditions often make the visibility of the most important graffiti not immediate.
Unfortunately I found a park stopped forty years ago, the route on which the Rosa Camuna is located has not been practicable for safety reasons for some time (but a visit with the director of the museum makes it possible in some cases : then safety!?).
Many panels are faded and there are no elements that allow you to look at the rocks identifying the most important points and incisions.
You move with a map provided at the entrance photocopied on an A4 sheet that barely allows you to distinguish the most important rocks and paths marked in different colors.
Really embarrassing to justify so much neglect in front of foreign tourists who came to see a UNESCO heritage site, obviously accustomed to very different standards even on open-air museums, which stunned find themselves in the midst of so much neglect.
The Rosa Camuna, symbol of the Lombardy Region, can be seen in the park Parco Archeologico Comunale di Seradina-Bedolina, part of the UNESCO site, which is located on the other side of the valley (not reachable on foot from Naquane, another ticket, other times, other times) certainly better maintained than the national museum.
Surely in these 40 years, the studies thesis the new discoveries and insights on rock engravings the life of the Camuni and everything that can be studied and deepened, will have made great strides, but the usability and management of a museum spread on rock art in Lombardy have remained firm!!
It is difficult to justify the situation in front of foreign tourists who have come to see a World Heritage site and are accustomed to quite other conditions of museums, the degradation and neglect that is perceived.
I trust that in many tourists passionate about art and history go to visit the archaeological site of Capodimonte with the Camuni rock engravings at the origins of European civilization with more than 5000 years of history, trusting that those who must take care of it, State or Region, do it seriously!!
The bookshop is obviously closed and in conditions that highlight its state of deterioration.

Very interesting place. A beautiful relaxing park in which to have fun finding the incisions. Ask the kids at the ticket office for tips. They are very kind and will explain some tricks. Recommendation; if it rains they see much better. Also if you leave your car at the cemetery take the long walk. Basically at the fork where it indicates Naquane both right and left take left. This way you will also see the Church of the Saints. Another little gem.

A beautiful clean and well-kept park, with breathtaking views of the slope of Pizzo Badile in the Camuna valley.
At the entrance we were greeted with a full map explanation relating to the park and the various rocks that we would admire and the various engravings.
To complete the impeccable explanation of the attendant we found a well-stocked classroom that helped us better understand Valle Camonica.

For us, a walk in the Alpine forests of the Val Camonica would be a 4* activity by itself - we like hills and stunning scenery! So a walk up the mountain with the awesome Concarena towering over the opposite side of the valley is right up our street.
Add to that mystery of Neolithic rock art - which is *everywhere* at Naquane, there really is a staggering amount of it - and this is a brilliant activity.

I had visited this park twenty years ago on a trip to elementary school, and it has retained all its charm: an open-air museum, never too crowded, where it is fun to find the rocks and analyze the engravings. Very useful audio guide downloadable at the entrance of the museum through the QR code to better identify the attractions. I felt like a child again!

Saturday, July 13, I visited with foreign friends the Park of rock engravings of Naquane. After parking the car we look for directions to the entrance. First catch, the arrows for the park point to both right and left. We don't know where to go. After a phone call at the ticket office they explain how to get to the entrance. At the ticket office we are told that there will be a guided tour of the park. We are lucky, we have the Park Manager as Guide. We walk and after a nice climb in the middle of the park the director gives us a 45-minute gun on the constitution of the park, the Unesco sites, the Unesco board and so on. Not one engraving. After an hour of blah-blah. Arriverci!!!. My friends were baffled. I'm not going back. Una figura di ......

The park itself has no parking space. At the church Chiesa della Sante you can park (free) and there are toilets. (see photo). From here you walk diagonally up to the entrance in about 10 minutes. We could buy a ticket at the entrance for € 6. With a walking route (partly over paths and wooden decking you can see over 100 petroglyphs from 3,000 years old. All in all a fun, special and educational experience. Also recommended for children.

The park is immersed in a splendid forest of chestnut, fir and holm oak trees and is truly beautiful... the paths are simple and the rocks on which there are rock inscriptions are still clearly visible and represent scenes of common life and hunting. At the entrance they give you a very useful map for the route... the site is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and I recommend it to families with children... they have a lot of fun finding the inscriptions in the rocks... highly recommended...

There is no doubt, it must be visited at least once in your life. Even if some engravings are difficult to find, it is a truly interesting visit that takes you back in time.
The "but ..." refers, more than anything, to the inability of the bodies responsible to enhance a place of such importance: very few indications, the road to get there on foot is not at all maintained, the sign at the entrance is ruined. A real shame not to valorise such an important park.

A pochi passi dall'ingresso del Parco Nazionale Incisioni Rupestri c'è la Chiesa delle Sante. In pochi minuti si visita.

Dovete scendere fino a Capo di Ponte, sono circa 40 km. Poco prima dell'ingresso al Parco di Naquane c'è un piccolo parcheggio, per trovare posto è necessario arrivare un po' prima che il sito apra, quindi alle 8 am, il sito apre alle 8:30. C'è la possibilità di parcheggiare anche nei pressi della chiesetta cosiddetta delle Sante, sulla destra della strada, poco prima del parcheggino di cui ho scritto sopra.

Si, si arriva via strada al ingresso del parco e si prosegue su percorsi quasi tutti adatti a disabili sia con carrozzina elettrica che con accompagnatore. Alcune pitture richiedono però un po’ di sforzo per essere ben viste

Scusa se non ti ho risposto prima ma non avevo visto la domanda, mi associo a quanto detto sopra. E' un parco completamente all'aperto ma MOLTO frequentato quindi anche se tenuti al guinzaglio è meglio telefonare perchè se c'è troppo afflusso potrebbero non fartelo entrare
