Great place to visit, we enjoyed it very much. The film (in the basement) is also highly recommended to watch and hear more about the effort that has been made to restore everything so truthfully. There is clearly a lot of craftsmanship and love in it.

Villa Cavrois was built between 1929 and 1932. The villa is commissioned by Paul Cavrois from the architect Robert Mallet-Steven to house a family of 7 children. Covered with yellow facing bricks attached to a reinforced concrete framework and two red brick walls. The villa has an area of 1840m2 of living space.
From 1940 to 1944, the villa was occupied by the Germans and suffered damage. On his return in 1947, Paul Cavrois called on the architect Pierre Barbe to create 2 independent apartments. This work was completed in 1959. The villa was inhabited by the family until 1986. The following year, it was sold to a real estate company that wanted to subdivide the park. Despite being classified as a historic monument in 1990, the villa is no longer maintained by the owner who allows the looters to operate. In 2001, the state purchased the property at risk and entrusted it to the National Monuments Centre. The villa opens its doors to the public in 2015, after 12 years of work.

Despite the empty appearance of the building, the immense number of rooms in the Villa is a waste of time. The decoration is very vintage and makes all the charm of the house. The garden is nice for a short walk. It is a must to visit around Lille.

There is the Villa Savoye and now this Villa built in 1932 by Mallet-Stevens, visionary architect, "modern" and also a client who follows.
The interior is very art deco but above all has been totally restored following the abandonment of the city. One room has been left in a state of disrepair, which makes it possible to become well aware of the work done by historic monuments.
The exterior with this architect is splendid.

We visited the villa in the morning there weren't too many people around and we were able to find a carparking space in the street, I guess this would be a problem when the villa is busy as there are only a limited designated number of spaces available.The villa is interesting to visit if you like modernist architecture from the Thirties. It was only at the end of the visit when seeing the short documentary film that we realised that a substantial amount of the furniture and flooring was not original but reconstructed (remarkable though the work carried out is ).I feel that 11 euros for the visit is a bit expensive as you can easily visit the villa in about an hour.

It is not my habit to criticize, but a sense of visit with part numbers seems indispensable to me. As for the sound system of the film, we have already heard better.

We visited the house, in the rain, at 4 (couple of five + our daughters in their 20s) and everyone loved it. Count a good hour of sightseeing. This house was modern in the 1930s and still is today: what a genius!
Too bad no guided tour is offered because we probably miss a lot of things.

A place to absolutely see. Sublime villa. We were lucky enough to visit the villa when there weren't many people there. No problem with parking. A real pleasure to visit and good dialogue with the staff (who had time given the lack of visits at the time). Negative point: the price of entry. Mentioned 9€50 in the 2024 backpacker guide… ultimately 11€ on site… culture should be accessible to everyone.

Sachez qu'un ascenseur dessert les différents niveaux de la villa : sous-sol, rez-de-chaussée, 1er étage et 2e étage.
Par ailleurs, il est possible de s'asseoir sur des sièges ou des bancs dans les couloirs de villa.

Not clear on your question. If you are refering to today, perhaps because of the holiday they closed earlier. Otherwise they normally would not.

Take the Tramway (not Metro) R indirection of Roubaix and stop at Villa Cavrois then it’s a 10min walk. Trip should take about 15 min
Or by car, follow direction to Croix. Street parking available. Enjoy!

La visite de la Villa Cavrois dure en moyenne une heure à une heure trente. Bien sûr cela dépend de la sensibilité et de l'intérêt de chacun, certains visiteurs tombent amoureux du lieu et peuvent rester plus de trois heures.
