Absolutely fabulous, I was one of a coach party visiting Valkenburg over the Christmas week and a Christmas market was being held in the caves.
One of the largest collections of "stalls" I have seen. The caves seem to go on for ever.

We visited on the 28th December 2024. We pre booked tickets for 3pm. The timed queues are clearly marked and well organised. Took approx 15 mins to get in.
Inside the caves can be very busy in places. There are all the usual Christmas stalls you would expect. Also different types of food and drink to try. Our total visit took about 90 mins and was a novel experience.
Valkenburg itself goes all out for Christmas and although can be very busy it makes for an enjoyable festive day out.

Very good organization because there was a terrible world on this Sunday, December 22nd). We had booked our tickets in advance on the internet.
ATTENTION: one of our group could not return because was accompanied by his Chihuahua!!! Despite the fact that the dog was in a closed dog stroller, access was denied. Incomprehensible since strollers were allowed. Morality an entry of 10€ paid for lost!!! (And nothing was specified when booking tickets on the internet).
Atypical place and splendid Christmas decorations. A very big criticism however, sellers should be more selected and handpicked because many do not sell things related to Christmas including shoes or clothes. Too bad I think....
The place is worth a visit but there is better as a Christmas market especially by paying 10€ per head.

It’s a pretty little town all dolled up for Christmas. It is really pretty and there are some old ruins around that makes for a good option for walking around.
The Christmas market in the cave was overrated though. The shops don’t particularly have anything great. I wouldn’t recommend spending the money on the tickets.
We did go on a day when it was raining a lot so there is a chance that on a nice day it makes for a better adventure.
Tip: if you want to grab dinner after visiting the Christmas market, make sure you get a reservation. Most restaurants were packed and it took us forever to find a restaurant that could accommodate the 4 of us.

We have been in Valkenburg for the last 3 years every November. Unfortunately, the caves offer no real change from the years before. It's a shame. The city in and of itself offers a nice ambience, but is increasingly becoming a high-priced tourist trap.
My tip therefore, who does not know it should have seen it, but who has already visited it, urgently needs several years break to be able to enjoy the Christmas market again. We're definitely taking a break.

In the centre of Valkenburg is this Attraction. We were with the train through the limestone hallways. Many fine wall decorations in the former shelter rooms.

What a nice tour we got from Pieter. He knows a lot to tell! There are many interesting things to see in the cave! We will definitely be back again.

Fantastic experience! We did both the train and on foot. Walking was done by a super nice and experienced Guide, Pieter. Walking is a more fun experience, you have more time for photos, the Guide could explain more and you experience it a bit more intensely. You also go to places other than the train. All in all a great experience!

A super interesting tour of the Valkenburg mangrove. The Guide told the story very nicely and clearly. We were on the tour where you had to walk through all the corridors. Definitely recommended! (even if you are looking for cooling, it is within 12 degrees)

We had chosen the little train. In less than an hour you will receive an explanation or explanation about the event. Our Guide did with great enthusiasm. It's pretty chilly down there but doable for an hour. Beautiful drawings seen and of course all the facilities built for a possible nuclear attack at the time. Fortunately, I didn't use it (yet).

Hoeveel bedraagt de prijs voor de rit met het treintje voor een groep bejaarden van +- 45 personen en kunnen ze allen samen in het treintje.
De uitstap zou doorgaan eind mei - begin juni.
Is er in de omgeving een gelegenheid om een broodje met soep, taart en koffie te gebruiken voor de ganse groep.

I was here in the summer of 2009 and we rode bikes underground. There is no mention of that here. Can you tell me where I was. It was really neat and there were two routes. The teenage girls went on their bikes in one direction and the adults in another direction. I have a friend going to the Netherlands for 18 months and would love her to experience the bike ride underground. Thanks
