Had the Fowey mussels yesterday and WOW!!
And what a beautiful place to sit and eat them 😋

We were lucky enough to be accommodated with a table this Sunday as they were fully booked!
A perfect Sunday Lunch for 3 generations, Granny loved her Roast Beef dinner so much she wanted another one ( all though she couldn’t fit in another bite!) I had Steak and Ale pie with delicious homemade shortcrust pastry, lovely tender steak and rich gravy great selection of veggies, fab cauliflower cheese.
Apple and berry crumble for pudding, proper thick crumble topping, loved it!
Everything you want to find in a proper, traditional Devon Pub with a North Devon friendly welcome, made my in laws very happy. Will definitely be back in the week as the menu looks amazing.

Found this wonderful old inn while on a walking holiday.
What a treat. Wonderful food - the mussels I had being some of the best ever and I’ve had a few. And brilliant value.
When next in the area - a sure return.

This delightful 17th century inn provided us with the most authentic , cosy and enjoyable evening. The food was delicious and went down a treat . There was an all round pleasant atmosphere in the pub , it seems like it was run by a family all of whom were very cordial. We will most certainly be telling our friends about this one .

If I had been reviewing this pub for food alone I would have given it 5 stars. We booked for a table of 6 the night before and established that we would be bringing our dog. No problem until after our meals were on the table and a waitress informed us we couldn’t have our dog were they had set the table with a reservation label. The same waitress who was at the entrance when we arrived. I informed her we would not move and suggested she told the manager. We stayed put and thoroughly enjoyed the food. A lack of communication between booking staff at night and day staff. Get your act together guys.

We visited on the off chance, quite late on a Thursday evening. We were welcomed by Hollie she was, from start to finish fantastic. She made us feel soo welcome helped us narrow down our choices from a delicious looking menu. The Venison was cooked perfectly. The jus was delicious and building itself was beautiful. We highly recommend this place, we will definitely be back!!

Had a fantastic lunch today at The Stags Head, the menu choices were varied and there was so much to choose from.
Even the 10yr old ate everything up, although by the time pudding came and he did try his best, the other half had to finish off the cheesecake.
Service with a smile and nothing was too much bother.
We shall definitely be back

Went on recommendation and was very pleased with the food and service. Good was tasty, well cooked and plentiful. Atmosphere was just right, not noisy but friendly, all in a delightful old Devon thatched Inn.

Just returned after an amazing lunch . Staff fantastic not to mention the delightful ownwers John and gorgeous Sue .Quality of food was so so good and prices reasonable mikeand I wish you all a wonderful happy and continued success and well deserved .we will be back xxxxx
