its just such a nice tranquil place, cant beat it. it is not so good on a wet day, but spring summer or autumn it can be such a nice day out when you want a cheap treat and just spend time with the family.

Visited hadleigh castle for our engagement photoshoot and brought our Labrador along with us. The views really are incredible and online photos do not do it justice.

Further to the reviews i would suggest that visitors to the castle take time to lunch at nearby Hadleigh farm, a place founded and still owned by the Salvation Army, it was a re-training centre for the poor and forgotten souls, teaching new skills and temperance following the ideas of William Booth founder of the Salvation Army.
It has a large cafe and good facilities for the day tripper or walker. Staff mostly by volunteers some of whom have learning difficulties it is a beautiful place to warm the body and soul.

Always a favourite even in Winter, it offers lovely views of the Thames Estuary and Old Leigh. Great for picnics on warmer climes.

HadleighCastle is alright if you’re not ina manual wheelchair or a Electric wheelchair because you can’t even get in the grounds because there is a broken slope which I think the council should sort out because it’s very dangerous even for buggies and pushchairs and even the elderly could trip and fall. I’ve got a stuck in my wheelchair I just think the experience is terrible I wouldn’t recommend anybody unless you’re able bodied to come and see the castle which is a shame because it’s really nice for a picnic area.

We visited Hadleigh Castle on the way to Old Leigh.its a lovely peaceful spot with wonderful views of the area.we stayed about an hour.

Hadleigh castle is my favourite place for a walk a great combination of history and views out over the Thames estuary. It’s a free site and you can visit any time. Parking near the castle is very limited so I would suggest going early morning when you can have the place to yourself. There have obviously been improvements in the last year. As the waste bins that were over flowing have been removed and there is new signage around the site telling you even more about the history. If you’ve got time I recommend walking out slide of the perimeter where there are more footpaths for different views of the castle.

Although free there is an opportunity to donate online, worth doing. Spectacular views over the Thames estuary and you get a hint of what the castle would have looked like in its heyday.

Yes it's all good for a pushchair. May be a little bumpy in places but generally ok.

You can follow the Castle Road right down to a dead end. On the left there is a gate to enter the grounds. Park on either side of the road allowing enough space for others to manoeuvre, normally no restrictions here. Alternatively park in the nearby cafe, have a drink then walk down. About 10 minute walk.
