It’s many years since we visited so it was very nice to see the changes FAREHAM council had made in improving the footpaths and bridges. Rhododendrons were out in flower and coupled with the peacefulness and birds singing we’re glad we stopped for a while.

If you do not like dogs avoid this park. I have taken my 6 year old son here several times because dogs MUST be kept on leads. He suffered a very traumatic incident with a dog when very young and becomes very panicked at dogs off their leads. Despite this rule, I would say 90% of dog walkers insist on allowing their dogs off their leads at this park and no wardens are present to uphold the rules. Several times, dogs have run up to my son and tried to jump up at him, causing him a great deal of distress. I have had to physically separate dogs from my son several times at this park because their owners just let them run wild.The dog walkers here do not follow the rules and don't seem to understand why they need to keep their dogs on leads. They also disturb the wildlife at the park. Several times me and my son have been enjoying looking at a squirrel or bird, only to have a dog off its lead ruin this experience. I for one, will not be visiting this park again. My son ends up traumatised afterwards because people can't follow simple rules.

Beautiful woodland country park. My parents lived over the road, so visited many times. Magical, definitely worth a visit, the ajoining cemetery is beautiful also.

It is some years since we last visited here.
What I remembered as an attractive park with lakes and vibrant flora is now a woodland with paths. I understand the woodland will look unkempt as it is left to nature, but there is a lack of colour throughout the park, which looks nothing like the photographs above.
To be fair, it was fairly peaceful and we enjoyed the walk.
A current problem everywhere these days, it seems, is the lack of respect from (some) dog walkers.
There are notices advising that dogs must be kept on a lead, however, of the 9 dogs we saw, only 3 were on leads.
We saw 7 bags of dog excrement dumped alongside the pathways, even though there are bins provided. As well as being unsightly, these plastic bags are a danger to wildlife. I appreciate that this problem should not detract from the park itself, but it is perhaps indicative of it's neglected appearance.

My each run be that 5 km or 50 km starts from Holly Hill. I somehow add that in my journey. These woods are magnetic in nature. Be that any season I love going there. So fascinating woods all the time attracts me. For a runner and jogger you need 40 minutes from parking to Hamble shore and back. For walkers extra 30-40 minutes depending upon your pace. One thing is sure , you will never be bored of these woods. They have so much to give and peace it gives you to take along back home. My humble request to all visitors is kindly take your litter along with you and please please please do not do fly tipping in any sorts in recycling bins on entrance. New coming care home have taken over huge parking space however still there is ample of parking available though in summer busy months there might be struggle for parking. Though I prefer to always run as I live in Locks Heath.

This offers so kuch more if your willing to explore
Easy paths to walk along. The mini pond and stream is wonderful to walk along and the kids get to run around. Dog friendly and a great picnic stop. Car park and there a few differentones dotted around the grounds. If you fancy a nice walk you can go though the woods and down the stream, you will end up out by the harbour. Which is another great spot. Perfect in nice weather.
As its not to busy its great afternoon out with the family for some fresh air and most importantly its safe witg everything that is going on at the moment.

Lovely spacious parkland with scenic pond and really nice walks in good weather. Perfect for a picnic.

Lovely woodland area. To walk around the whole area takes a good couple of hours, ideal if you want a long walk or jog with nice scenery.

There's so many different routes to take so you can enjoy something new each time you visit. The ponds are beautiful and full of ducks. You can walk right down to Hamble river if you wish. It's just a great, relaxed day out in summer or winter.
