Nice bit of local history with great views of the beautiful surrounding area.
Narrow lanes to get there and locals drive very fast !!!so beware
Maybe only go there if you are actually in the area no facilities there .

This Neolithic burial site is quite local but I don’t think I’ve ever visited before.
It was amazing to see this and ponder about it.
The views surround this site are phenomenal too.
It’s quite tricky to find as the sat nav in the car took my brother in a huge circle, past the entrance and right around for a few miles, whilst encountering other motorists so we had to pull up and negotiate passing one another.

As residents of mid -Wales for 12 years, we visited Arthur's Stone on several occasions, but never encountered behaviour described by the last review. the site is controlled by English Heritage which has carried out significant further research into its history. We at least value the work that they undertake. If your correspondant had photographed the activities of this family this site would be an ideal place to shame the perpetrators!

Having stayed in the local area for a few days over the Jubilee weekend, we visited this site last Friday afternoon only to be appalled by the behaviour of a family with several children and a large dog in tow.
The children were allowed to climb all over the monument whilst eating food and the parents just stood by laughing as if this was an attraction in an amusement park!!! The attitude of the three adults we saw was an absolute disgrace when disrespecting this ancient monument and ruined it for everyone else who pulled up in their cars.
Having found it a difficult place to find after driving through some very narrow country lanes, finding only a limited amount of room for parking and then encountering the behaviour of these horrendous people we just turned around and left immediately. If we hadn't left then I would have approached the adults and told them exactly how we felt!!!
There was no thought for anyone else who may have wanted to inspect the monument and perhaps take photographs and neither was any respect shown for the ancient site. The gang who had invaded the area clearly believed it was their little patch for a picnic and fun and games.
The local authorities who look after ancient sites must do better, both to educate visitors and to keep ignorant idiots like these away.
Disgraceful behaviour and a poor example for children to follow.

Arthur’s Stone, a Neolithic chambered tomb, is over 5,000 years old.
Lovely prehistoric burial mound, to show the stones of the chamber. In a great location, on top of the hill.
You can get right up to the dolmen and there is a useful information board telling you about it.
This tomb has been linked to King Arthur since before the 13th century. According to legend, it was here that Arthur slew a giant who left the impression of his elbows on one of the stones as he fell.

Located in a remote area, well worth the visit. Not as a previous reviewer said “deconstructed”!!! But the remains of an ancient burial chamber withe several standing stones still visible. You can get right up to the dolmen and there is a useful information board telling you about it. Parking at the monument is very limited but we parked in Dorstone at the village hall (which has very useful toilets) and walked up the hill. Very steep climb but worth it.

Lovely prehistoric burial mound, deconstructed to show the stones of the chamber. In a great location, on top of the hill. Take the opportunity to stroll along the footpath that passes the stones.

Only a 5 minute visit, but well worth it.

Took the children to see this monument (age range 12 to 21). We were all really impressed and the setting with the views was a real bonus. Good information board. Able to park ok but limited parking, although probably never that busy. Able to walk all around the monument and get some good photos.
