I visited in August 2019 and it was raining heavily. but the experience was even more beautiful because of that, we trekked around 200 steps to reach there and then the naturally formed root bridge and the waterfalls below is just worth the journey and trek. it was dark because of the weather but the beauty was breathtaking! I made a whole video on this on my YouTube channel Feet Outside. Welcome everyone to watch this and show some love! Also, hit like if you like this review.

Since it is a hilly area the stream over which the living root bridge is made breaks into a waterfall which is nice but the best one is about a kilometer and half when the water of stream falls over 100 ft and goes below and flows to Bangladesh

Apart from the waterfalls, you can tour the village, visit the single root bridge and climb the Tree houses to view the Bangladesh plains!

Mawlynnong waterfalls are located in the Mawlynnong village, which is famous for its cleanliness and was awarded the title of the cleanest Village in Asia. This village is also earning for itself the title ‘God’s Own Garden’. The main attractions of waterfalls is the Living Root Bridge. Other attractions around the falls include the famous high sky-watch, which offers the stunning views of the plains of Bangladesh as well as the surrounding greenery.

MAWLYNNONG VILLAGE
यह cherrapunjee शिलोंग से लगभग 100 km की दूरी पर है, व् पहुँचने में 3 घंट लग जाते है. आप यहाँ शिलोंग से पहले रिवाई गाँव पहुंचे, आगे Mawlynnong गाँव थोड़ी सी दूरी पर है. शिलोंग से नजदीकी रेलवे स्टेशन गुवाहटी है, जो की 104 km की दूरी पर है .
यह गाँव बंगलादेश बॉर्डर के पास सिथत है .इस गाँव को एशिया का सबसे साफ गाँव घोषित किया गया है . इसे भगवान के अपने बगीचे के रूप में भी जाना जाता है. यहाँ पर रंगीन फूलों से भरे हुए बगीचे है. हर घर के बाहर बांस की टोकरी हैं, जो डिब्बे के रूप में उपयोग की जाती है. पूरे गांव में बांस की धूलियां हैं, यहां तक कि पेड़ से गिरने वाली सूखी पत्तियां सीधे कचरे में जाती हैं, स्वच्छता के साथ, गांव ने बहुत कुछ हासिल किया है, यह 100 प्रतिशत साक्षरता दर वाला गाँव है .
इस गाँव की सबसे विशेष बात मुझे ये लगी की यहां, परिवार के बच्चों को उनकी मां का उपनाम मिलता है, और धन मां से परिवार की सबसे छोटी बेटी को दिया जाता है.
यहाँ खाने वाले भोजन सभी आर्गेनिक रूप से उगाए जाते है, यहां तक कि मांस घर में पाले हुए पक्षियों और जानवरों से आता है.
मावलिनोंगगाँव में मौसम साल भर सुहाना रहता है . यहाँ आने के लिए सबसे अच्छा समय, मानसून है. गाँव में प्रति रात रहना का खर्चा लगभग 2000 रूपए है .
अगर आप के पास ज्यादा समय नहीं है तो आप गाँव में भी दो से तीन घंटी गुजार सकते है व् लोकल रीति रिवाजों का बारे में जान सकते है.
एक बात ध्यान रखे यहाँ पर धूम्रपान प्रतिबंधित है व् प्लास्टिक के थैले पर प्रतिबंध लगा दिया है, नियमों का सख्ती से पालन किया जाता है और डिफॉल्टर्स को भारी जुर्माना किया जाता है .

Reached this village after a long drive. I have seen better and cleaner villages.
It’s no more a village. Has been converted into a commercial centre of the third grade.
Most houses have a souvenir shop or a restaurant.
On the positive side, many houses have lots of greenery around them with rich flora and fauna. Avoid it.

Ranges from 1000 to 3000. There is a newish place which has rooms with AC , TV and attached bathrooms. That guy was asking for 3000.
Other rooms in the village are quite basic. The rates depend on the demand , season and your willingness to pay.

its very easy to arrange a taxi from shillong. You can get the contact no from the photo I have attached. Little bit riskly for family in rainy season.

Guwahati airport to Shillong in about 4-5 hours if you are travelling by taxi or car. From Shillong about 2 1/2 to 3 hours to Mawlynnong- again by car. All depends on traffic and road conditions. If you are not staying in Mawlynnong then it's better to leave Shillong early say by 9 a.m. Then you can leave Mawlynnong and be back in Shillong by 5 or 6 pm. before it gets dark. You can do a detour of the Elephant Falls and Shillong Peak on the way back too.
