It was a mental and physical challenge! One of the best life experiences ever! If you want to do the peak you certainly prepare well. Be sure to check the weather. The higher you sit the colder and windier it can get! Take plenty of breaks! It is worth it 💪

Sri Pada or Adam’s Peak is an ancient pilgrimage site, which has long attracted thousands of pilgrims from all faiths. This conical mountain is 7,360 feet (2,250 meters )high, soaring clear above the surrounding mountain ranges. The mountain is located in the southern reaches of the Central Highlands in the Ratnapura District and Nuwara Eliya district of the Sabaragamuwa Province and Central Province —lying about 40 km northeast of the city of Ratnapura and 19 km southwest of the city of Maskeliya. The surrounding region is largely forested hills, with no mountain of comparable size nearby.

While it is an adventure, it is not for the weak, the sick, people with health conditions, and definitely not for the old.

Climbing Adam’s Peak is highly recommended. From the sporting side, the more than 5000 steps from Dalhousie are easy to climb for fit in 2 hours. In fact, the sunrise is very atmospheric, so set off about 2:30 or 3:00. There is little space on top and a cold wind whistles, so take change clothes and jacket as well as headgear! The descent is a little faster with about 1 1⁄2 hours. But it depends very much on the amount of pilgrims. Around the full moon the traffic jam is guaranteed and then it can take a sensitive longer time, they say. No guide is necessary, because you can't get lost. Only on the top there are at least 2 exits. So don't confuse here where you came from.

Only a Buddhist temple at top with Buddhist flags all along the way.
Buddha never visited here. He was born, lived and died in India. But people falsely believe this visit and have made it only about this.
No mention of shivan or Adam anywhere

We went up the 5200 steps in November 2024. It was not yet a pilgrimage season and therefore deserted. Except for a handful of locals and monks we didn't meet anyone and had absolute peace. It was wonderful! However, we started at 9 am in the morning and not at night - as is recommended everywhere. Therefore, of course, there was no view upstairs and everything in the fog. Still, it was worth it. In the low season absolutely take enough water with you as no kiosk has on the way! Great experience ❤️

Started at 2 am, made it to the top in 3 hours, and got an amazing sunrise without any crowds. The climb felt easier than I thought, and the way down was smooth. Met some super friendly people on the trail too. If you want a chill, i would definitely do it again.

Adam's Peak, also known as Sri Pada, is a sacred mountain in Sri Lanka, revered by Buddhists, Hindus, Muslims, and Christians. Standing at 2,243 meters (7,359 feet) above sea level, it is a popular pilgrimage destination for people of all faiths.
The most notable feature of Adam's Peak is the Sri Pada, a large, hollow rock formation on the summit that resembles a human footprint. According to legend, this footprint is that of Adam, the first man, or Lord Buddha, or even Lord Shiva.
There are four main routes to the summit of Adam's Peak: the Hatton Route, the Nilamale Route, the Maskeliya Route, and the Palabathini Route. The Hatton Route is the most popular, as it is the shortest and most well-equipped.
The climb to Adam's Peak is challenging but rewarding. The trails are steep and often slippery, and the altitude can make it difficult to breathe. However, the views from the summit are breathtaking, and the sense of accomplishment is immense.
In addition to the religious significance of Adam's Peak, it is also a beautiful natural wonder. The mountain is surrounded by lush green forests and rolling hills, and the views from the summit are stunning.
If you are planning to visit Sri Lanka, I highly recommend climbing Adam's Peak. It is a truly unique and unforgettable experience.

We had an absolutely perfect morning on Adam’s Peak, hiking up an almost deserted mountain under a starry sky and watching the stunning sunrise before descending under a warm sun. Absolutely none of the chaos or bad weather described on here - which isn’t to say those reviews aren’t accurate; just that we were seemingly very lucky. Climbing on the 2nd Nov, a good month before the pilgrimage season really starts, it was like a ghost path. The perfect time to do it if you want to avoid the crowds (which, reading the reviews, sound like hell on earth). Ok, no food&drinks stalls open, but we had water and a few snacks and the lone monk at the summit made us tea. Most importantly, however, we got lucky with the weather. So that would be our tip: climb in the off-season - and pray to Buddha, Shiva, Allah, God or whatever other mountain deity for good weather.

Hi, I'm planning to climb Sri Paada during off season. But, I didn't find any bus route in google map from Hatton to Nallathanniya. So can anyone tell me how to reach Nallathanniya by bus?

Hi, how can I get from Hatton to Nallathanniya? Is there a bus or just tuk tuk? And what is the normal price and time?
撰写日期:2019年12月5日
there is a bus service from Hatton to Nallathanniya leaving every 30 minutes during the pilgrimage season. Its a journey of about one hour due to the
curvy nature of the road and could cost under 50 rupees. These services run until late evening

Can anyone tell me is it okay to climb adams peak during the month of october??
撰写日期:2019年10月13日
ideally the late October would be dry except for the inter monsoon showers during the late afternoon .But given the current weather situation it would be advisable to delay a climb until mid November,

We plan to climb Adam’s Peak early Sept - what will the weather be like or is it just see on the day?
撰写日期:2019年7月23日
September is end of monsoon period and these part of Sri Lanka expects be wet. However, looking at history I dont remember a year September as a extreme weather month. Specially this year its expects to be more dryer than past. BTW prepare for the worst and expect the best. Off season climbing is different level of experience and incomparable.

Hello! My partner and I are heading to Sri Lanka this weekend for 3 weeks. We were hoping to climb Adam's peak in the later part of the month, but have read a few posts saying it's closed in June/July because of the weather. Does anyone know if this is true?
Thanks!
