An incredible experience to spend the day with Bundy and his family explaining and showing us his connection to land. We explored the beaches, mangroves and estuaries under his guidance normally off limits to tourists. Our 3 kids were especially impressed with the spearing and fishings skills of Bundy and his sons who effortlessly pulled together a sampling of fish, oysters and mud craps cooked over a beach fire.

This cultural tour was excellent and gave a fascinating insight into the Bardi culture, history, stories and traditions. Bundy and his family were excellent hosts and explained how they live off the land and sea. Fascinating.

This is without doubt the best 1 day cultural tour I’ve ever done. Breathtaking scenery not ordinarily open to non-Aboriginal people. Cultural education from a senior Lawman (Bundy) delivered with humour, patience and respect. A glimpse into the rich life of modern/traditional Aboriginal Traditional Owners in the West Kimberley. Adventure and adrenaline as you hunt for fish and crabs in the wildlife rich Bardi Jawi country armed with a spear. And a sense of being welcomed into their family as you share seafood gathered over the tour. Be prepared to walk on rough and muddy ground, and remember water, hat and sunscreen as it is hot, hot, hot: on our tour the temp peaked at 47c according to the car thermometer, but Bundy found good shade and plenty of opportunity for cooling dips in the crystal clear water. I’ll never forget our day out with Bundy and his sons, and will definitely do this trip again if I have the chance.

WOW What an amazing day we both had. We learnt so much about Aboriginal culture and their deep connection to the land. We were shown how to catch mud crabs with a spear, which we ate for lunch on a campfire. I have never tasted food so delicious and fresh. Bundy’s way of imparting knowledge and the history of his people and the beautiful coastal environment was very inspiring. Bundy is passionate about maintaining the culture and giving people a glimpse of his heritage.Thank you Bundy for sharing your culture.

We were lucky to have only our family and 1 other family we were travelling with on this tour. 4 adults and 6 children. 6 hour tour. Bundy was very friendly and respectful. He talked quietly but clearly. We loved how he asked the children questions and challenged adults as well. We all prided ourselves on being country people but we definitely all learnt lots of new things that made us impressed with the Bardi Jawi people from the Dampier Peninsular. Searched for cockles in the mangroves, learnt how to find fresh water, tried our hands at spear fishing and snagged mud crabs. At the end of the tour Bundy took us to his “shady spot” and started a fire to cook our crabs fish and cockles on the coals. Who would think that leaves were the best disposable plates?!

We really enjoyed our Night Fishing adventure. Bundy and family were welcoming, encouraging and Bundy was generous in the way he shared his cultural knowledge. We learned so much and loved everything about our evening.

It was such an immersive experience, it was fun, educational and really brilliant. Searching for mud crabs, spear fishing, Bundy was always encouraging us to give everything a go. In our group we caught 4 mud crabs and Bundy cooked them, talked to them. The sweet lip caught by Bundy’s son was delicious and cooked on the open fire. All remarkable, he is a beautiful gentle intelligent man who cares deeply for his people and country. We all have a lot to learn from Bundy.

Bundy will take you through Kooljaman teaching you about all the flora and fauna and how Aboriginals used this knowledge to live on the land. Bundy is a passionate tour guide with an insane amount of knowledge he's willing to impart on people that are interested. Highly recommend.

We decided to visit Cape Leveque after I read about Bundy's tour. I wanted our teenagers to learn and experience more about Australia's aboriginal heritage. We did the spear fishing tour during school holidays when there were more than 20 people on it - which was too many for the type of activity. Unfortunately that meant that it was difficult to hear the softly spoken Bundy. Whilst he shared with us traditional hunting methods and we enjoyed forraging for food in the mangroves and looking for opportunities to spear fish, there wasn't the sort of insight that we had hoped would be offered during the tour (and which I have had on other tours with aboriginal guides). To get the most from Bundy, we found you need to ask questions and be close to him to hear his answers, both of which are challenging with a large group. This was still a wonderful experience driving in our four wheel drive in convoy along beaches and exploring mangroves that we would not have dared visit without a guide. It would be even better if the group was smaller and Bundy were comfortable to share more of his culture. [Note that the tour does not meet at Kooljman, but at Bundy's town about a 15 minute drive away (you book through Kooljman, but the staff at Kooljman didn't tell us the meeting place was a drive away until we went expecting to meet at Kooljman reception). Also check that you receive email confirmation of your booking as Kooljman lost my original booking made months before our trip.]
