heard about this and we went for a walk into the island. incredible views and quite mystical feel about it.recommend to families for a nice stretch with the kids.

We walked the Island at sunset. We were lucky enough to join NPWS/WIRES on a shearwater release. Great to see the excellent work the conservation crew are doing, and see the working harbour on sunset. A couple of swamp rats were a bonus.

This spot is absolutely incredible. Not only for the wildlife but the view is beyond amazing. highly recommend. great place for a walk too.

Quite a steep walk to the top but the views are worth it. You can see for many kilometres and not see the same thing twice. A must visit.

If it wasn’t for the bad weather , when I visited Coffs Harbour .. it would have been an awesome & energetic walk out to Muttonbird Island , via the Coffs Harbour Marina & Coffs Harbour Marina Walkway

A walk on Muttonbird Island was a pleasant end to our afternoon in Coffs Harbour. Easy parking at the marina. Enjoyed looking at the boats and the scenery. No muttonbirds home when we visited but still worth the somewhat steep walk just for the wonderful views. We ended our trip with some local fresh fish and chips at the marina.
Tips:
* It was quite windy on the walk - we were grateful we grabbed our coats as we left the car.
* Downloaded a free self-guided tour app produced by NSW National Parks - gave us some good insights about the location and wildlife.

This was well worth doing- not an easy stroll to the top but well worth the view across the bays of Coffs Harbour It was also great to see how the wildlife is protected on the island.

Great walkway across the island to the lookout with interpretive signs along the way, great views from pretty much everywhere on the island. Well worth a visit.

Great walking track - quite steep in places, views were amazing & a few sightings of whales, didn’t spot any mutton birds but could see plenty of burrows

Great walk uphill on specified tracks and platforms so as not to distrust the environment for the migrating nesting birds. We even heard some chicks in the ground that may not have fledged yet but nearly all the birds would have left by the time we visited. You can view all the nesting holes..amazing..it must be incredible when they are all there. Maybe next time. Awesome views of the ocean, migrating whales and the Solitary Islands. You have to do this for sure. Great job protecting this special island for the birds.

In Australia, the sun sets in the west so the view from the east coast is not too good. However if you are looking for a good spot to stay for a few days, I recommend Coffs Harbour. Actually, sunset from the top of Muttonbird Island should be pretty good
