Having planned this activity in advance, it was disappointing to receive a cancellation notice without any explanation as I was gearing up to leave. My travel schedule was very tight and getting short notice cancellation introduced undue stress. Anyway, it worked out for the better as I booked wonderful Sydney area experiences with another tour operator. So, it worked out.

If you're looking for something different (instead of the standard Blue Mountains tour or Harbour Bridge climb), this is the MUST DO tour in Sydney. They pick you up at your city hotel (or at Chatswood/Terrey Hills) when others force you to go to a central point. The hidden waters of Kuringgai NP are stunningly pristine & beautiful yet so close to the city. The 2.5 hour cruise is peaceful & surprising whilst the aboriginal paintings, engravings & artefacts add a different perspective to this tour. The knowledge & friendliness of the guides is second to none. If you only time to do one thing in Sydney, choose this tour.

Thxs a lot

This was a nice day away from the city. The only drawback on our tour was we were not able to do the short walking tour due to the high fire risk. Therefore we had a longer cruise. Paul taught the people on the boat about the aboriginal people of Ku-ring-gai and their history. The boat slowed down so we could see some of the caves up close. These tours are limited to 22 people so it is not crowded. The day was interesting. There are many places to sit on the boat. During the way back on the cruise Paul brought out many items that the Aboriginal people used. One item in particular was the didgeridoo and some of the men tried to blow in it.
Lunch was provided which was a baguette. We were also offered water on the bus.
We were also offered a banana in the morning. We had lunch on the boat where juice and water was provided. My only suggestion would be is to have a treat after lunch maybe a cookie?

Fascinating tour. The team were in touch through the week to advise on the impact of the bushfires and adapted brilliantly. We all loved the Aboriginal talk and historical sites, which answered lots of questions. Despite the conditions, we saw quite a bit of wildlife including an Echidna (spiny anteater). Lunch was great but it wasn't 'bushtucker', which we'd been looking forward to.

This tour showed me what Sydney Harbour likely looked like before colonization. The views in the park were great. More importantly Paul is knowledgeable and raised lots of interesting questions about the Aboriginal peoples who lived on this land. I highly recommend this tour to everyone with an interest in history and nature.

Thank you Paul for a wonderful day out. All the trip was so interesting, finding out about the aboriginal culture and seeing the rock carvings and paintings. Everything was so well presented including the on board videos and photographs, and seeing the park from the water was very impressive.

What type of boat? Also how long is the trip - 3hours?

Hi Larry - we've just discovered this part of the site! Sorry for the delay. The boat is a 52ft motor catamaran, that seats up to 64 people. It has a front, open air 360 degree viewing platform, as well as two open air but shaded seating areas, and a spacious interior cabin where complimentary tea and (real) coffee are also served. The trip is a minimum of 2.5 hours, past Sydney's most remote/isolated suburb and deep into National Park waterways where ancient rock art is only accessible and viewable by boat.
I hope this answers your question and was worth the wait!
Warm wishes, Paul and the Sydney OutBack team.

I have been thinking about booking this tour - do they pick up from northern beaches or jusy city?

Hi Lama, we have just discovered this part of the site and it may be too late for your inquiry... however all our tours pick up in the Sydney CBD region, with guests staying on the Northern Beaches given the option of the beautiful ferry commuite from Manly to Circular Quay - where we pick them up in the morning - or to arrange their own transport to and from a rendezvous point 15 minutes from the National Park (that way, they still enjoy full commentary and park fees are covered by the tour costs).
If you are a long-term visitor to Sydney, we hope you might still join us if you haven't already. Again, sorry for missing your question all that time ago. Paul and the Sydney OutBack team
