The beach was close to my accommodation. Completely empty beach on a Friday afternoon. Very fine sand. Little shade. Coffee available. Lots of 🏄♀️ surfers, as there are waves. Lifeguards on site.

Beautiful landscape, beach with easy access, two playgrounds overlooking the sea! Children can enjoy the park and the beach and adults can also enjoy seeing the beach. Many restaurants with sea views catering for everyone. For surfers, the beach is good for surfing.

Ok, skipping past the bit where the beach isn't that nice, it's possibly the most boring place on the planet. If your idea of fun is hanging out with people armed with annoying children and silly designer dogs, then it's the place for you. Love the worst that suburbia has to offer? Then you'll love it. Want to drink or eat after 8pm on a Friday or Saturday night, then you are out of luck - the whole beachfront shuts around 9-9:30 because the local residents are too boring to venture out later than that. Avoid. Go to Manly instead. It's just depressing.

The walk to Long Reef is awesome. The sunsets over the lagoon are worth the walk. Then when you get back to Dee Why there is plenty to eat at the beach front.

We ha a superb time here in November. The beach was at its best in this late spring period and prior to sundry disasters engulfing Sydney and Australia in general.. I really love the warm, relaxed vibe here. it may not be as famous as beaches like Bondi or Manly but Dee Why Beach has a solid, understated charm that is all its own.

In 2018, I already wrote and published a review about Dee Why beach. In that review, I enumerated all the essential info that visitors can need. Now, when I wanted to check something, I realized that it disappeared. It wasn't a significant loss, since the beach is there, and I still have the keyboard of my air-book, so everything is ready to replace the lost review. Only now, I'll leave out the info, since they are previously provided by countless reviewers.
Dee Why isn't as famous as Manly or Bondi, but not as impersonal as those mentioned above. Maybe the memories make it friendlier. I quasi see it when we raced with my dog on the wet sand, or when my grandson cries out excitedly at the sight of the first rock pool of his life. The essence of Dee Why beach is the long stretches of golden sands, the tall Norfolk pines that line the road, the monotonous singing of the landing waves, the colorful long line of lively restaurants and cafes, and the army of liberated, joyous people who, after a long confinement, now happily throw themselves into the waves. Unfortunately, the end of summer and cooler days are coming, but there are always determined bathers who are not held back by anything. The timider can sit over their coffee and admire the chasing waves, the ocean as it reflects the sun’s rays and the cormorant who sits on one of the rockpool’s lampposts waiting to strike a careless fish. Dee Why Beach gives happy hour any time and anybody.

Dee Why Beach is located on the northern beaches in Sydney. It’s a busy and popular suburb with a family friendly beach and fabulous Rockpool at the southern end of the beach.
There are plenty of restaurants, cafes and amenities available including a children’s playground and large grassy outdoor picnic area. Parking can be problematic at times, however, a local bus 136 from Manly Wharf runs regularly.

Go over to Manly on the ferry. Enjoy the trip. Walk over to Manly Beach and paddle to the north end. But then please get the bus to Dee Why Beach. It is very special. BeautifuL. Quiet. Great facilities. Cafés. A treasure.

We returned to this area after many years and enjoyed a lovely day. We are not really swimmers but we walked around and had coffee at one of the several cafes in the area. There were quite a few people around and for families this is a perfect spot, as it is for just about everyone else.

Do people BBQ as far along as the Lagoon? I know the lagoon itself has a wildlife refuge. If they did, how far would the nearest public toilets be? Can one wade across the mouth of the lagoon at low tide and go on to the headland walks? Thanks
