What a lovely surprise

So you do have to pay to visit but I think it’s worth it we really enjoyed the ability to go through at your own pace - make sure you go downstairs it was truly amazing to see!!

Beautiful home, gardens and location

We arrived here accidentally as we did a long walk by the river. It is situated in between Brisbane City and the cruise terminal. The view is spectacular. Sit on the lawns or the seats provided and chill for a while. Take a walk in the gardens, touch the grass on the back lawn. IT'S NOT FAKE!! The house wasn't open when we were there but it was pretty early in the morning. It was enough to see everything around it and the huge fig trees and abundant other plants. Well worth a visit after a big lunch at the Breaky Creek Hotel.

I had the pleasure of attending a wedding in the magnificent grounds of Newstead House. The attention to detail of the gardens were magnificent along with the ambience and view. A truely pleasurable afternoon.

Newstead House and Gardens *Book a Tour or Just Wander *excellent.

One of the most prominent homes,set in beautiful grounds, in Brisbane’s history.
Open Friday Saturday Sunday - Guided Tours 11.30a Ph 32161846
We had a group tour beginning with our excellent guide Chris taking us through the grounds, informing, weaving the history of this beautiful place in an entertainingly good story.
Than inside with our guide Sandy, a passionate interesting presentation, bringing this beautiful house alive with the stories, picture, furniture and people who lived and visited over the decades. This is a good day out for a group with morning tea /lunch able to be organised.

*Newstead Park
• 1845 17 + 17 acres purchased for 30 shillings per acre by Patrick Leslie
• 1846, sold to Capt Wickham who owned adjoining 25 acres
• 1876 became the property of James Taylor and was subdivided into approx. 200 house lots
• 1918 BCC purchased the property and, with earlier purchases held approx. 8.5 acres
• 1939 Newstead House Trust Act vested the property to the people of Queensland.

Well worth it for all to see

Be aware you do pay to see this homestead but well worth it indeed locals and visitors should take the time! Make sure to go downstairs too it was amazing

Nice but too expensive

Been be this nice park on a couple of occassions but the price of $12 for a walk thru of Newstead house is just too dear.If the price was in the range of $5 I'm sure many more would be enticed. I'm all for heling preserve buildings like this but when mum, dad and a couple of older kids turn up for a visit, it starts getting expensive,

Good potential but not open many days

The grounds were lovely to visit and information signs were interesting. The house looked interesting but unfortunately is only open Friday to Sunday.

U3A History tour

great place to visit and so full of history

We have been here a few times now and there is always something new to find out. What a location right on the bend of the river with an amazing amount of garden around. An enjoyable and knowledgable time spent here.
