I had a fantastic experience, learning to surf over two mornings for the very first time (aged 35). Pay and his team were encouraging and friendly! I look forward to going again on the next school holidays!

Pat Moran and Alexa from Big Wave are THE BEST! This was our 3rd school holiday 4 day surf Groms session with them and my kids 7 & 5 are asking for more before school starts for the year. Their hands on learning is the best for these little Groms. Both of them are standing with ease and catching so many waves during each lesson. I have all the respect and admiration in the world for these guys and can’t wait to get the kids booked in for the next session.

My 9yo son attend a 4 day Surf Groms school holiday program with Pat and the girls from Big Wave and on day 1 he was hooked! He enjoyed rocking up every morning to the girls smiling faces for wetsuit pick up, then picking up their boards to head onto the Secret Harbour beach.
The beach where the lessons are held is perfect for the beginner right through to experienced riders.
The learning and skills the Big Wave team gave to my son will forever be his base skills and we look forward to booking in for more sessions in the school term! Thanks a bunch :)

How do you thank somebody for igniting a passion and developing a healthy skill that my son will treasure his entire life?Football with his mates was awesome during Auskick years, but he didn’t like the uncotrolled aggression of some opposing team members. Cricket was fun, but it takes all day to play a game. When my son decided he wanted to give surfing a try I was rapt! As a supporting parent I’d much rather be relaxing/swimming at a beach than sitting on the edge of a scorching oval or having to run drinks and clean uniforms. Problem was, I had very limited experience wasn’t able to give him the knowledge and skills he needed to learn. A quick internet search later and I discovered Big Wave Surf School. The name Pat Moran kept surfacing as the premier surf coach on the West Coast.Pat’s classes and teaching experience have been developed over the years to impart confidence in the students and fast development of skills in people of all ages. His classes have turned my son into a mad keen surfer, strong swimmer, an avid meteorologist and an interested oceanographer. There is so much you need to know when surfing and the big thing is if you don’t know what you are doing, how will you progress? Observing the students after a six week course, it was obvious that their ability was better than others who, without coaching, were just repeating the same mistakes over and over.Marty has been attending Pat's classes now on and off for nearly 2 years, and surfs nearly every week. He has progressed far, but he is still learning after all this time, such is the extent of Pat's knowledge. As I have said, what measure of gratitude is worthy for somebody who develops the lifelong skill of surfing in their students? I speak with the highest regard when it comes to recommending Big Wave Surf School

I have been taking my twin teens (Amy & Conor) to Big Wave Surfing School for the past couple of years. I have been amazed at their progress and more importantly how much they enjoy it. They started out at 10 years of age and were quite hesitant about learning to surf. Not any more! Head coach Pat and the other girls that coach the kids are warm and friendly and they are wonderful with all the kids and adults that attend surfing lessons.I really like the fact that Pat teaches the kids about being safe in the ocean and how to identify rips and other dangers as well as providing great surfing lessons.We will be booking in for some more lessons over the 2018 Xmas holidays.Gerry

Have been attending the Surf School as a family for the past three years. Awesome Coaching from the girls and Pat, dedicated, enthusiastic and supportive. Great location at Secret Harbour. Perfect for all surfing levels. They love their sport and it shows with the training and coaching provided. Can't Rate Highly enough!

Just the best way to start a Sunday! And a week! Being over 50 it is not easy to surf; but Pat has been patient and encouraging. Everyone should surf; and Pat is a great beginner's teacher

Pat and Linda run a really professional surf school in Secret Harbour. They have safety and FUN all rolled into 1!! This is a wonderful sport that both my children enjoy and having the right foundations right from the start is a must. Big Wave surf school is a 5 star surf school in my opinion.

Very supportive and friendly instructors. They taught my daughter at her own pace and encouraged her with her surfing. Definitely reccomend!
