Natuurlijk fenomeen verpest!

Wat een belachelijke toeristische tentoonstelling. Hoe kun je iets natuurlijks zo verpesten. Je wordt met zijn allen naar een tribune geleid waar een praatje wordt gehouden en er vervolgens een lading zeep in het ding wordt gegooid om de uitbarsting op te wekken. Als ik dit had geweten, was ik nooit gegaan. De uitbarsting is wel gaaf om te zien, maar het had ook een fontein kunnen zijn.

Thoroughly enjoyed

It was a wonderful experience and we thoroughly enjoyed our morning. A very informative talk re how the Geyser came about. Also three different walks round.

Very friendly staff. Good welcoming chat. Toilet only at ticketing centre. Get ticket before going onto geyser. NO CASH accepted except on our day when internet connection was down so they were desparate for cash. I only had cash so I was lucky as I had no plastic card on me.

It was good to see the geyser in action and to have the knowledge of the staff add to the experience, but it felt quite forced at times, as if the presenter was nervous or new to speaking in public.

The geyser that erupts on time

The Lady Knox Geyser is near Rotorua. Being Aussies, we had never seen a geyser -- this one even erupted on time! As it turned out, they add detergent so the geyser can perform for the spectators. We were a little disappointed.

Not worth a visit

I was pretty curious how is geyser erupting every day exactly as 10:15AM and suddenly I found out. It's because of soap put inside by employee.
If I knew I'd not be attending the ceremonial...

Great sight

It's a bit false as the geyser is triggered and there's huge pile of people watching - but there's no other way to guarantee seeing the geyser - so it's worth it. I'd recommend it.

Underwhelming

Lady Knox Geyser erupts at 10:15 AM daily...but not without the help of a park employee who dumps detergent in it. After having seen Old Faithful in Yellowstone National Park (USA)...a huge geyser that erupts on schedule, without human assistance... this tiny manipulated eruption was disappointing, to say the least. I'm glad we didn't have to pay a separate fee to see it. However, the rest of the Wai-o-tapu geothermal park was definitely worth the price of admission.

Geyster guaranteed to erupt

We had never seen a geyser before so we were keen to see the Lady Knox geyser. The geyser was surrounded by sightseers. At the appoined time, a ranger gave s a short tallk, then poured something that appeared to be detergent into the geyser, After about five minutes the geyser erupted on cue. It was quite spectacular, but we felt a bit cheated.
