Our two teenage boys were keen to learn to ride dirt bikes. An afternoon with Grenville and they came back with big smiles - having gone from absolute beginners to having successfully navigated some fantastic trails. Excellent instruction and a great focus on building skills and being confident to navigate terrain safely- cant recommend highly enough!

It is an experience you will never get in Japan. My Guide and I rode our off-road bikes around the ranch and fields all day. The price was a little higher, but I got extra drinks and lunch. On the ranch, we ran away from sheep and cattle 💩, and on the forest road, we ran behind sheep running as fast as we could. The Guide asked me if I wanted to go on the extreme course and I said no, but it looks like I could go on various courses if I wanted to on the day. The Guide could only speak English, but if the purpose was to ride a motorcycle, that would be fine.
Our Guide picked us up at Smiley's Hostel (the owner's wife is Japanese and loves mountain biking) where we stayed on the day, and we arrived at the departure point in a 20-minute car ride. Transfers to and from Smiley's are free, but transfers to central Christchurch cost NZ$200.
We changed into rental clothes in a large container, signed the documents and left. The wear is a bit ragged, but the function is fine. I think I wore elbow and knee Pro protectors. The helmet was European in size and didn't suit me at all as a Japanese, and I was in a lot of pain in the afternoon. It is strongly recommended that you only bring your own helmet.

We had the best time with Adventure Trail Rides, the morning was spectacular with great views everywhere, Garry was very helpful with guidance on the bikes, tracks and sharing his knowledge on the region's landscape. Really glad we had this opportunity, definitely recommend to anyone looking for some adventure around Christchurch. We didn't have any previous experience with quad bikes, but the instructions were very clear and we felt safe and adventurous all the way through.

Fantastic fun! Well organised, stunning views and plenty of riding for the money. The quad bikes are lots of fun to ride and we rode through fields of sheep, steep trails and rough riverbanks. Highly recommended!

Way better than we Expected!
An awesome adventure with Gary as our guide, quad bikes were easy to ride and took us to some of New Zealands most breathtaking views and scenery. An awesome amount of local knowledge too! Cant thank you enough, looking forward to coming again next year 🙂

Yes that is correct. Riders must be 12 years or older to ride the quadbikes.
We also have passenger seats on the guides quadbikes for people.
