A wonderful place to forget the rest of the world, soak up its tranquility, savour the beauty of the bush and rejoice in the bird song. So peaceful and quiet.

There is a good walking trail inside the reserve which sits between residential and commercial developments on either side. It’s very suitable for aged people as it’s just flat terrain. A good couple of hours to spend.

Very good paths with a tranquil setting. About 3.5 km doing all of the paths. Toilet was open after 9pm when the gates were locked.

I run here at least once a week as part of my training for Army Cadets. It’s a good way to get rid of some energy 😂 It’s never too crowded which is a good thing and it super peaceful. Definitely suitable for family walks and there are plenty of great spots to have picnics and stuff too. Would recommend. Also I’m 14 🙂

We went here to look for birds. Lots of ducks, swans, coots and sparrows but not much else.
It is a beautiful park and lots of people were out walking or running but we saw no other birders.
Lots of people walking their dogs. I'm glad we went but not so good for birders.

I didn't even know this reserve existed until our Village Walking Group chose it for their Monday outing recently. Hidden away from the hustle and bustle of suburban Christchurch, this is an attractive bush and stream walk, alive with bird calls and the smell of fresh vegetation. Just a couple of things to watch out for - the path, which is unsealed, can be a little rough in places, place signage was a little inadequate. It's easy to find yourself heading in the wrong direction!

This is a roughly 4 km walk in a semi-loop, round a small lake,and along the river, there are open spaces and plenty of introduced water brds on the lake but I was very disappointed with the lack of other bird life (a few pukeko, a fantail and a thrush and some blackbirds). In such a big reserve with a range of habitat I expected to see much more birdlife. There are two dog parks (a large & a small dog) and some lovely picnic areas

It is wetland park and walkway, part of Styx River water body corridor. Nice walking paths, relax walk or exercising, also for dog walking. Interspersed with ponds and small islands, plenty of ducks and wetland bushes. Not too far from Christchurch centre, plenty of parking space, it is good place for the whole family.

Nice for a walk but if one is looking for views there are better places. Still, it helps with the chlorophyl in the city so keep growing.
