A great time, family friendly and exciting. Staff was attentive, on time, tour was reasonably priced and great equipment.

We were a family of six who went out on the Hurunui with Southern White Water in Jan 2023.
We had a great time. Quite unusual to find an outdoor activity that all of the family - younger and older - all get excited about. Though we did leave young kids at home.
The Hurunui is a good mix of rapids and more chilled out coasting down the river enjoying the scenery.
Vinny and Simon are excellent guides. Good fun to spend the day with and we felt in capable hands. They have good gear and by supplying everything make the day really easy. Given this, it’s pretty excellent value for money.

We thoroughly enjoyed our 3 day, 2 night trip down the Upper Grey (a level 2 - 3 grade river) with Vinny and Rowan. Our mixed group of seven ranged in ages from 14 to over 70 years old, originating from five different countries, and we all loved the trip. The scenery was majestic, the river both mellow and exciting. We enjoyed voluntary swims including drifting on our backs through the gorge. Vinny and Rowan were helpful and entertaining. We also had the privilege of sharing our trip with Hunter, Vinny's dog who enjoys rafting as much as the people. The camping was very comfortable, the food was stupendous, certainly much better than we eat at home! Highly recommend rafting with Vinny at Southern White Water, we felt so looked after and safe, while still feeling we had an adventure. We look forward to our next trip with them and hopefully will have Rowan as our guide, so we can enjoy his quiet humour and perhaps name another rock after him.

We took an overnight trip down the Waimakariri river with Vinnie from Southern Whitewater, and it was an outstanding experience. Every aspect of the trip had been well thought out and was appropriate to every member of our group. The gear was first class and the experience was just what we were looking for. Vinnie made the trip enjoyable in many ways. The meals were outstanding: If you thought dinner was good, wait for dessert!
The rafting was fun and safe at all times. Our 6-year-old managed the trip without any concerns and had a whale of a time! I would highly recommend Southern Whitewater to anybody contemplating a rafting trip for any length of time.

We really enjoyed the family float with Vinny and Hunter the dog. It was the perfect level for my 5 year-old son and 70 year-old Mum. A few thrills, nothing too serious, and plenty of opportunities for swims and fun. All wet-water gear was provided (wetsuit, thermal, splash jacket, life jacket, helmet, booties) which kept us nice and warm, and the lunch at the end was top notch.

Great backcountry experience in a beautiful part of the world. Great rafting fun and great food on our multi-day trip - great cooking Vinny!

Wikid time on the river with these guys 🤙 very professional and accommodating to bunch of comcrete placers with no rafting knowledge at all.
Definitely recommend giving these guys a go for a work function or just with a bunch of mates !!

A fantastic trip down the Hurunui river for a social club event.
The guides were very professional and provided many laughs along the river.
It’s was great to have Hunter the mascot dog along on our trip! We loved him jumping from raft to raft trying to get first position down the rapids.
The support crew were stream line and efficient picking up vehicles and providing a fantastic spread for our lunch.
Would highly recommend southern white water rafting to others.
