我们是在一艘精致邮轮上预订的这个短线游。体验太赞了。景色特别壮观，并且相当多的吃的、苏打汽水、啤酒和红酒全程都源源不断地供应着！！！绝对强烈推荐这个线路！！！！工作人员也是非常友好、乐于助人……

火车从迷人的Dunedin火车站出发，这个车站可以追溯到这座城市的掘金时代。回程花了约4小时，半天的旅行很值。泰伊里峡谷里不同高架桥的风景都很有意思，有足够多的信息但又不会过多，而且非常清晰。这次旅行最棒的一件事是火车知道哪里是吸引游客的，当遇到可以看的，火车会慢下来。

我们乘火车去普克兰吉，一路玩得很开心。景色令人惊叹，讲解丰富有趣。建议准备点现金，因为很多时候没有移动信号，EFTPOS机器无法工作，自助餐车只能收现金。

We are glad you thought our train journey was the perfect way to spend a day. You are right one of the great parts of the trip is that the scenery does constantly changes from the beautiful coastline of Dunedin, to the farmland of the Taieri Plans to the dramatic Taieri Gorge.

Although the train does come back down the same line, one of the great things with this is that you often pick up on things that you may have missed on the way up. We get this feedback from visitors all of the time given there is so much to see.

I am trying to decide if the train trip is worth it? Is the scenery mountainous or hilly? The cruise offers an excursion that leaves from the pier, but it is expensive. Viator offers a less expensive tour along with a city tour afterwards, but it seems they are relegated to the older, less comfortable cars. Are the best cars for cruise passengers?

We used Viatour and purchased train tickets at the station. The bus dropped us at the station and gave us a pickup time. The older cars were fine. I don’t recall just passengers on the ship’s excursion in newer ones.
The trip followed the gorge. Yes, the terrain was hilly and mountainous.

We are a small group of 6 adults arriving 11:30 am Dec. 14, 2018 Dunedin (Port Chalmers), New Zealand Departing 9:30 pm with Princess Majestic. We booked Tripadvisor Viator’s Taieri Gorge Railway from Dunedin Fri, Dec 14, 2018, 6 Adults, 4-hour round-trip train travel. How do we go from Port Chalmers to take the Rail? How do I pre book on the Taieri Train in New Zealand. We will arrive by cruise ship to Port Chalmers, however the cruise excursion is too expensive and we would like to do it independently to the ships excursion. I am also on a mobility scooter. Thanks in advance for any help. Mary

Is it possible to purchase tickets direct from the Railway and join the train for a return trip at the wharf at Port Chalmers where cruise ships dock- What would be the approximate price?

Hi - the trains that depart from the wharf are part of the Cruise Ship shore excursion orgainised by the ship. If you would like to join this tour you will need to book through your shore excursion desk. Note the shore excursion from the ship is different from our usual service in that you get your morning tea, lunch and other extras all included.
There is usually a public train but you will need to make your own way into the city. You can book these on line on our website.
