Situated in the beautiful mountains of New Zealand, this tour was surrounded by gorgeous scenery. The drive up was windy but well signed, the water was cold and refreshing, and our guide was friendly, confident, and knowledgeable. I would highly recommend this experience to anyone who is ready for a bit of a challenge in their hiking, swimming, and rappelling adventure!

Wayne was an amazing guide, and told us all about the area, its history and the fauna. The waterfalls were gorgeous, and I always felt safe with him guiding us through the rappelling. The water was cold, but not too bad once we got used to it. I would love to go again if I'm ever in the area.

I cannot say enough good things about our experience canyoning with Anna and Craig down Sleeping God Canyon through Canyonz Adventure Company. Caleb and I were the crazies that decided to go during the off season (WINTER), but these amazing guides bundled us up, kept us warm, fed, safe and happy as we enjoyed some of the BEST views that the inside of New Zealand has to offer. They were knowledgeable, witty, fun, GREAT company, and made for the highlight of our trip. They have some fun surprises with each repel, really making sure we had the best experience possible. They even helped us change our flat tire on the way out. I could not recommend them more. If you find yourself in New Zealand, don't miss the chance to experience this!

This was the first time "canyoning" for our family of four (ages 65, 59, 25, 21), and it was the highlight of our 2-week vacation in New Zealand and Australia. Wayne was an awesome tour guide, explained just enough to get us safely through each part of the hike, took memorable pictures of our experience, and had a great sense of humor to boot! Rapelling (abseiling) down the cliffs and waterfalls was amazing. Everyone felt a satisfying sense of accomplishment hiking themselves up in the first half and then rapelling down. Everyone hikes with a backpack containing their climbing gear, wet suit, water/lunch. There are a few short swims as well. You should be physically fit and have a sense of adventure to most enjoy this experience.
Wayne provided snacks (granola bars/chocolate/chips), sandwiches for lunch, and hot tea for after the hike (which was immensely appreciated as the water was cold)! This tour runs year-round, but we found the water extremely cold already in May (which is fall in NZ). The wet suits kept our bodies warm, but our hands were freezing (I would recommend CanyonZ to provide wet-suit gloves as well). We all highly recommend this thrilling tour -- it's a great introduction to canyoning!

My wife and I went on the full day Sleeping God Canyon trip and it was amazing 🤩. Our guide Wayne was super fun, a great teacher and adventure guide from top to bottom!!
The sacred canyon has indescribable beauty and splendor and all of the waterfalls and deep pools are unique and provide great adventure and plenty of excitement.
This was the grand finale of or 6 week trip and it was a next level epic finish!

A MUST DO!
Canyoning was an incredible experience and is definitely the highlight of our trip! We had an absolute blast every single minute that we were there and would do it all over again in a heartbeat.
Wayne and Russ are absolutely amazing! They are so friendly and understanding (sorry guys for giving you a near heart attack/causing you to lose hair with my jumps). They truly made the experience even more fantastic by not only being heaps of fun to spend the day with, but by also being very encouraging throughout. Wayne and Russ also provide one heck of a good burger at the end of the day.
The canyon itself is breathtaking and was the perfect scene for our epic adventure. Had to pinch myself standing there in all its beauty. I am so thankful that the team also helped us take photos throughout the entire experience and helped us capture each moment.
ABSOLUTELY PHENOMENAL!

After a lot of hesitation and fear, this was one of my favourite adventures I’ve done! With the help and encouragement from the friendly guides, Wayne and Anna who made this trip fantastic with their support and exceptional knowledge with ropes and carabiners, I felt safe in their hands.
Not only were the guides exceptional and supportive but so were our group, I met some awesome people who made the day.
The photos Wayne and Anna took were amazing and hats off to them for not charging extra for the photos.
A day I’ll never forget, thanks Wayne and Anna, you both are fantastic guides, I appreciate everything you do.
If you’re thinking about it, book it in, you won’t regret it!

Had such a blast going into this solo and coming away meeting such a supportive and fun group of people! Wayne and Anna are legends, ensuring everyone had a great time whilst knowing we were in safe hands! Would highly recommend this experience! Plus the canyon is seriously cool! Nice jumps of optional heights, a crazy looking slide which is super fun and the most beautiful rock facings and waterfalls to get amongst! Not to mention we even got info about the area/history! Loved it!

Wow, wow, wow - what an epic trip only made better with the amazing guides Wayne and Anna. Surrounded with a beautiful native backdrop and stunning waterfalls to conquer. This is a must for everyone.
Safety equipment and wetsuits were great quality and the guides helped everyone in their own comfort levels or happy to push you out of your comfort zone… “A class” experience.
Small details were never overlooked, with good food along the way and at the end.
Amazing photos to take away with you.

An unforgettable day in Atuatumoe/Sleeping God Canyon!! Wayne and Annette were amazing guides. Very professional, safe and well set up with all the gear required. Great to experience a stunning part of NZ.

How long have you been in the Thames, any accommodation recommendation? it seems to be expensive over there when checked on booking. com?

I only spend 2 nights there. There isn’t many options regarding accommodations and it is quite expensive. I got a decent prize at hotel Imperial - it was okay, but only as a place to sleep

Hi there, thank you for your inquiry. This is a tough question because a lot of factors play into someone's ability to do the trip. Your age isn't a concern, however, it is a very physical and full day out. If you frequently embark on full day hikes or backpacking than the physicality shouldn't be an issue. It's just the psychological challenge that you have to be ready for as it is mentally intimidating (ie big vertical descents down/and in waterfalls). I hope this helps.
