We've visited this gallery many times in the past and have always rated it one of the best in the regions, but no longer.
The beautiful wildlife exhibition has gone, now occupied by a very aggressive indigenous display, certainly won't help their case with the Voice. In the adjacent art gallery where we've seen many great exhibitions, including several by local kids. Now it's an "Origin" exhibition, supposedly related to Rugby League Queensland VS NSW, however heavily influenced by Indigenous references !
What have they done with this wonderful complex??

My visit to this fine Gallery was long overdue. The displays were varied and the feature was the car. I enjoyed reading about the history of Origin from the early twentieth century. Thanks to the ladies who were volunteering today. You do a great job.

Loved the Spinners, Weavers and Textile Artists exhibition. While not large, it showed a broad breadth of styles in an engaging manner. The staff are very helpful and friendly.

I was looking forward to visiting the gallery, but it was very disappointing to find that it was closed. So we only visited the building! If I have an opportunity to visit Hervey Bay again, I want to make sure that it’s open during my stay, as I wish to learn the history of the indigenous culture in this region.

visited gallery and museum August 8th 2019 Very impressed withe the exhibition by local fabric group display also local art competition very inspirational. The whale exhibition was awesome and superbly displayed with a great deal of information, which made our whale watching trip much more enjoyable. Highly recommended

Friends were keen to visit the gallery, and so glad they convinced us to join them. This place is fabulous, and has something for everyone - a wonderful display of exquisite fabric artwork (some of the best we have seen anywhere!!), paintings and other artwork, all beautifully displayed, and a fabulous maritime display with video's, history, photo's and information on whaling in the area, life of whales, history of that part of the coast etc. And believe it or not IT IS ALL FREE. Fantastic and helpful staff are on hand to answer any of our questions. A great way to spend a couple of hours or more with friends and/or kids. Photo's on TripAdvisor website do not do this place justice - by a big margin!!

This space was fabulous. Very educational with interactive activities for the kids. Volunteers were very helpful. Lots of space outside for kids to run and play also. Reccomend packing a picnic lunch!

Lucky enough to visit at the time of the recent annual local competition. The quality of entries was outstanding. The Gallery is set out beautifully, all you see/notice while in the exhibit is the artwork itself. The staff are friendly. and the surrounding area of the Gallery is its own peaceful calm despite being at a busy intersection of the CBD. Lots of park space to chill.

The current displays and art that I saw in August was really very well put together. The staff were very helpful and most interested in the Hervey Bay region adding tips and tours that would interest the travellers. I was also there when a small group of older citizens were enjoying a music recital lovely to see the community involvement.

The library set in a nice garden setting. The library is very well laid out with books for reading, c.d's, d.v.d's to suit all ages. Staff are nice, friendly and helpful.
