11 day cruise (max 36 passengers) on the Reef Prince with Kimberley Expeditions. the boat was a large catamaran providing a quiet and very stable platform with ensuite cabins. A great mix of relaxation and activities which included waterfalls, pristine freshwater streams and swimming pools out of reach of crocodiles and sharks, aboriginal cave paintings, fishing, mangrove crabbing and upriver scenic tours.
I loved the relaxed, informal atmosphere - casual attire at all meals even though the evening meal was semi-formal with meals served at table. Meals produced by the chef were incredible - too incredible with me leaving 2kg heavier!
The crew were exceptionally helpful and friendly - Captain Allan had a dry sense of humour despite being surrounded by water, Nick the event manager was organised, efficient and on top of everything, Ruby/Claudia/Magda/Lindsay couldn't have been more helpful and Brook, the part-aboriginal organiser of daily activities, provided interesting insight into the aboriginal connection with the land. An accomplished didgeridoo player his didg music added real atmosphere to our visits to cave paintings.
Bar prices were about bottle-shop and even your washing was done for you inside mesh bags so no mix-ups. At about 1/3 the cost of some other similar tours, and visiting places few people have seen, this cruise was exceptional value.

This place is so desolate and isolate, but it is so serene and undisturbed, yet so much history. Great place to reflect on the adventures and explorers to came to this beautiful country of ours.

A visit to this area is worth the time and energy to stop and explore. The flora is special. There is so much to see. Give yourself time to take enjoy what you find.

We landed in Careening Bay from a small cruise ship. This is the western edge of the park and is notable for a venerable Boab tree which carries historic graffiti from Lt Parker King’s expedition in HM Cutter “Mermaid”.
Only accessible by sea but certainly worth a look.
