We went there in late afternoon and found this place was closed during Christmas - New Year holiday season.
Then we walked around and found out very tranquil place by the Thredbo river.
We went picnic with take away food the next day.
You may swim in the river and have picnic as this place has BBQ area..... or do biking as this place has facilities for TVT bike track access across the bridge which you could bike to Thredbo if you would like too.
Worth to visit if you are in the Jindabyne area.

In the Gaden Trout Hatchery precinct there is a beautiful park and picnic area along the beautiful pristine Thredbo River, where the water is so clear that you can see the rocks on the bottom and if you are lucky, fish swimming by. Absolutely beautiful area. There is a suspension bridge across the river where you can explore the region along a walking track. There is a good selection of covered picnic tables. It is a beautiful serene spot to just listen to the silence and enjoy the sound of the water flowing.

The Gaden Trout hatchery is one of the best attractions in the Snowy Mountains. Very interesting and educational.The staff are very knowledgeable and happy to answer any questions. Great place.

We didn't go into the hatchery, but could see the big fat trout swimming around in the ponds there. The big attraction for us of this hatchery is the setting; beautiful and park like surroundings. A great place for a wedding I think. And the new Thredbo River Valley bike track comes right on through, over the river on a magnificent rusty looking bridge!

Fully siq trout m8. The alpha trout were big as, staunch fish, good gills.

A worthwhile place to visit and especially it is great fun with kids. They have a picnic spot alongwith barbeques near the river. The river is also very beautiful. The staff there is extremely welcoming and helpful.

Grabbed takeaway breakfast from Serge's and short drive to hatchery . Very pretty in Autumn , large wild trout swimming in the cool clear creek . Great spot for a picnic .

BBQ areas right by the Thredbo river, informative trout tours with feeding and so much room. Would be great for big groups and children.

The hatchery offers a very informative and educational experience to explain how the Snowy Mountain regional rivers are kept stocked with various species of fresh water fish. This breeding and dispersal activity ensures the sustainability of fish stocks for recreational fishermen in the rivers and streams of regional New South Wales. The guide is very knowledgeable and keeps the tour moving by visiting various breeding ponds on the premises culminating with a visit to view some wild trout in the Jindabyne River where the hatchery draws its natural stream water from. Very family friendly and suitable for a BYO family picnic under the shady gums on the riverbank.

No, I believe they use the facility as a Hatchery only and release thousands of fish each year into selected rivers and inland waterways.
