What a perfect day out.From catching the 8.45 train from Central to Hawkesbury River. The train stop is right next to the boat. We left at 10.00am & we were greeted by a cuppa & an Anzac home made biscuit. The boat delivers for Australia Post to islands within the Hawkesbury River. The Ploughmans lunch was filling & fresh. I would highly recommend for a different relaxed day out.

Simple but very enjoyable cruise along the Hawkesbury River into Broken Bay and Pittwater with lunch provided. Got up close to the seals that hang out on the rocks just below Barrenjoey Light House on the Palm Beach peninsula. Saw many hundreds of boats in the southern stretches of Pittwater. Enjoyed seeing the many secluded beaches and places that are only accessible by boat. Ploughman's lunch was really delicious. Great!

Fabulous outing with a fun crew, great food and beautiful views whilst dropping off mail. Loved every minute! Commentary was interesting too.

Such a great day service and good 👍👍
As we birder there was Anzac biscuits writing with tea or coffee. Lunch was a substantial ploughmans lunch
And drinks very reasonably priced $6 each.
The captain was fantastic with his vast knowledge if the Hawkesbury
I would defiantly recommend this trip

We booked the Sunday cruise and it was awesome, very knowledgeable commentary, friendly staff, great morning tea and lunch, fantastic scenery, would highly recommend

It was a very enjoyable experience, with good food and nice scenery during the tour. However, we felt that there was too much unnecessary facts and opinion in the skipper's narration, such that there was little time for relaxation and calm contemplation of the scenery. Historical facts are welcome, but whether there is currently power and water supply at each of the settlements or villages the boat visited on its postal run, including prices of houses is unnecessary. In addition, the skipper's cynical opinions on so many things could be trimmed.

What a great trip on the river, a really interesting tour with lots of interesting facts and history about the Hawkesbury. The staff were all friendly and helpful and the lunch was great. I would highly recommend to anyone.

We had friends visiting from the UK and had never experienced the Riverboat Postman in the 15 years we had lived here. We absolutely loved it. The staff were warm and friendly. Ben the driver was informative and funny. The food was amazing and the 3 hours spent on board was relaxing. I will definitely be back with our next visitors and would highly recommend this amazing experience

From the CBD is quite simple. The train leaves Central Station from the Country Line Platform and stops at Hawkesbury River Station
The train also stops at Strathfield if this is closer.
If you have access to the River Postman web site the details on train departure times from Central and return are there. If you can't find ask another question on tripadvisor and I will dig out the info for you. Some of the train timetables have changed in the new year (not sure about this one but best double checking.

You can book online but there is a charge for doing this. Alternatively, you can check availability on line and then ring to book. The number is 0400 600 111. If it goes to voice mail just leave your name, number and short message and they will get back to you very quickly.

The River Boat Postman runs Monday to Friday 10am - 1pm
They also run a Fish & Chip cruise on Sundays departing 11am- 2pm
Have not tried the Sunday cruise, but intend to.

There were no stairs. Walk onto the jetty and then onto ramp.
