There she is at the harbor to greet you. Very beautiful hotel behind her and the Greek flag next to her. And then the marble on the square surrounding. There are some benches for seating, but the sun can be relentless.

One of the first things that a visitor to Spetses sees is the imposing bronze statue of Bouboulina. It is located in the center of the coastal square of Dapia, in front of the Posidonio hotel. A well-known heroine of the Greek revolution, she is the only woman to hold the rank of admiral. The statue was designed by the well-known sculptor Natalia Mela and was unveiled in 1985. The heroine is represented with bare feet, in nautical clothes and with her left hand over her eyes to prevent the sun from blinding her, as she gazes at the horizon. Her right hand rests poised on the pistol in her belt. The sculpted figure of the captain rests on a high rough rock.
