Nedělní toulky Prahou nás zavedli do královských zahrad na Pražském hradě, jaro je nádherné. Návštěvníků spousta.

2 years later, we came back to the gardens , only to discover that the same show was going on. I wrote a long review from the past experience, plus others from previous visits. I thought I would just summarize the past reviews and include our last experience.

It was a beautiful sunny day and we had plenty of time to take in the Vinobrani festivities. There was dancing on stage, food stalls and wine tasting just like in the years past.

We enjoyed it all, the fun atmosphere , the manicured gardens, the panoramic views.
For part of our trip we were staying in the Hotel Savoy - in the Castle area. We had more time to linger, it was an afternoon to remember ...

The main castle gardens were partly closed when we visited but we did manage to gain access into the section closest to the castle itself. The formal flower beds were well laid out and the lawns closely maintained. Entrance is free so well worth a visit if considering a tour of the castle itself.

This is a very good place to view Prague from a high elevation, and enjoy the gardens. Take time to visit the Cathedral and the Castle also.

As part of our visit to the Prague Castle, we also spent some time in the beautiful and peaceful Royal Garden. This part of the Castle tour is free, but we had to purchase a ticket to see the other amazing attractions such as fantastic St. Vitus’s Cathedral. The Prague Castle is a must see attraction in Prague and I will review it separately; this is a review of the Royal Garden. Since the Castle is located up on the hills on the other side of the River Vltava, we took the tram from the Old Town to get there. We bought the 90-min tram tickets since it is very easy to walk back down hill and also see the other charming sites in Prague. The Royal Garden is an Italian Renaissance garden, located in the Prague Castle, and you will pass through it as you walk from the entrance point (with security staff) to the Castle itself. The Royal Garden was created around year 1,540 based on the project by Emperor Ferdinand I of Habsburg. It is famous for its rare botanical specimens and the exotic plants gained from distant countries all around the world. We saw lots of unique and beautiful plants and trees and a few nice small fountains with pretty statues. In particular, we enjoyed fantastic views of the castle from the gardens. We spent about 30 minutes walking in the beautiful and peaceful garden and enjoyed it very much. Would recommend to visit the Royal Garden as part of your visit to the stunning Prague Castle.

Royal Garden is located just on your left after you pass the secure point. Open daily from 10 am - 18 pm (closed Nov- March) and worth to be here only as part of your Prague Castle visit.
One the private ground was opened to the public with the coming of freedom under Vaclav Havel. Small, but nicely landscaped in September, your visit overall tooks not more than 20 minutes from your precious tourist time (included photo stops).
