Śnieżka - Queen of the Karkonosze Mountains

One of the peaks of the Crown of Polish Mountains.
Śnieżka is not difficult to get to, but due to large crowds, especially during the season. it's worth going there early in the morning.
Unfortunately, most of the year the peak is hidden in the clouds and you have to be a bit lucky to get there when visibility is good.
Nevertheless, when in Karpacz you must climb Śnieżka.

The highest peak of the Sudetes, quite easily accessible to everyone. There are several ways to enter here, or even take the cable car from the Czech side. A must-see when visiting the Karkonosze Mountains. Just remember two things - there are usually clouds at the top, so the views may be poor, and also that (like in the mountains) it can be very windy.

Crowded. Expensive chairlift. There are nicer mountain hikes. Great view!

You go up on the chairlift, which is very expensive. The path to the Schnekoppe summit is far too crowded, a real mass migration. There are much nicer mountain hikes in the Alps. But the view is great!

The main destination point in this region - is mount Sniezka. And you definitely have to climb it. Wont de difficult even with a children. We were with 2-5years old.

Amazing views from the tallest Czech mountain

The tallest mountain of Czech republic offers beautiful views. You can see the surrounding mountains, lakes, Obří důl, and other interesting sights of both the Czech and the Polish side of Krkonoše mountains from above. You cross the Czech-Polish border (so expect constant beeping of everybody's phones) and you can discover both the views of the Czech sights and Česká poštovna on the Czech side of the mountain and the beautiful lakes and Polish meterological station on the Polish side. Unfortunately that's what kind of disturbs the armosphere of this beautiful mountain and the surrounding nature - Česká poštovna is not a very nice looking container and the meteoroligal station in the futuristic style of the past regime looks like UFO from an 80s sci-fi movie. A typical mountain log cabin would look much better in their place, especially with a real restaurant inside, where people could get refreshments and also a real hearty lunch after climbing all the way up - because the only option here is a small room with about five tables in Česká poštovna and all you can get there is a hot dog, a biscuit and some bottled water. The situation is exactely the same in the buffet at the cable car station. You can take a comfortable ride all the way up on the top of the Sněžka, but the station is not prepared for crowds - the entrance is just a small hall with doors and a narrow staircase. During our visit in May a sharp wind was blowing on the mountain and it was quite cold there, definitely take some warmer clothes with you even if it was warm where you came from. There were even huge pieces of frozen snow and lots of mud, sometimes it was difficult to even get to the observation spots. So even if you're taking the cable car up, don't forget solid shoes - you will be walking over stones, snow, ice and mud.

The locals were very aloof to us tourists. We wanted to stock up for our hike. The locals seemed disinterested in helping us to point to nearest store. You could get lost in this hike.

a good option for amateur hiking in the mountains

Wonderful views, well marked and safe routes, lots of attractions along the way. There is the possibility of starting the trip and stocking up on provisions, departing from the town of Karpacz at the bottom of the mountain.
