In the end of 19th century LODZ was one of the biggest industrial cities in Europe.
With fastest growth of production. In this case every fabricants wanted to have palace to show how rich they are .And to show they have better palace as others .
Often the palaces were placed close to the factory , or on Piotrkowska street .
interesting social , historical and architectural issue.

We really liked the museum. We bought tickets to the Palace, Gallery and Garden + audio guide with language choice. There are discounts for children, seniors, families. For each room you hear a very interesting narrative, at the same time you learn a lot of history. In both houses it is very warm. The Palace is totally rich in valuable exhibits, in the picture gallery there are many original works by Polish painters.

It's a must-visit. The building is really very nice and interesting and the furnishings are very well maintained. Enjoy the visit to the fullest because it is one of the few houses in Poland so well furnished and maintained

More of a big house on small grounds then a palace
You can park for free on road outside
Small price in
Nice house with nice gold guiding but not a palace …
Small garden
Some interesting art in museum
The staff tend to follow you around

Karol Wilhelm Scheibler is considered one of the most important figures in the history of Łódź. Originally from the Rhineland, he became the richest man in Poland and, even, one of the richest in Europe in less than fifteen years!
Scheibler began his rise by purchasing land near today's Zwycięstwa Square, where he built his first industrial complex and mansion. As its commercial success grew, it expanded its production sites to an area stretching from Przędzalniana Street to Piotrkowska Street.
Karol Scheibler was one of the first industrialists who also took care of the living conditions of his employees. He thus created Księży Młyn which was the largest workers' housing estate in Łódź. It is a real “city within a city”, hospitals, a fire station and later a power station, a gas factory, churches of different denominations. Just like Izrael Poznański did at the same time. Mr. Scheibler's daughter married a brilliant economist, Edward Herbst.
Entering the company in 1869, he became general manager in 1874, curiously after marrying Mathilde, the boss's daughter...
After the death of Karol Scheibler in 1881, Edward Herbst, together with Scheibler's heirs, his sons Karol and Adolf and his son-in-law Georg von Kramst, founded a joint stock company "Towarzystwo Akcyjne Zakłady Bawełnianych-K.Scheibler", of which he became the general director and then chairman of the board of directors.
In 1876, he built a private mansion which would bear his name. It is a residence with an interior decorated according to the taste of Łódź industrialists.
The first floor is used as a “living zone”: an office, a living room, a dining room, an oriental room, a smoking room and a ballroom added later. A large staircase leads to the second floor where we find the private apartments and the guest bedroom. An outbuilding will later be attached to the villa. A stable will be installed on the other side of the courtyard. Today, this building has become a museum where there is a collection of furniture and other objects that belonged to the Scheibler-Herbst family or others from the residences of Łódź industrialists.
Currently, the buildings belonging to the Scheibler empire have received new occupants. In Karl Scheibler's mansion, we find the Cinematography Museum. The former spinning mill has been transformed into a luxury residence. The workers' housing estate is currently being renovated, but it has retained its residential function.

Karol Schreiber - one of the largest Łódź manufacturers built Księży Młyn📍- a factory - residential complex, a kind of city in the city. Consists of planned, architecturally structured factory buildings, housing estates, owner residences and villas with gardens, as well as streets and railway 🚃 sidings, school 🏫, two hospitals 🏥, fire bridge , shops and a factory club. Currently the area includes lofts, industrial zone, Herbst Palace- Museum, Book Museum, art studios, restaurants and cafes. Park Źródliska is just 5 minutes by walk🙂
The most heartbroken for me was the death of Edward and Matylda Herbst’s daughter - Anna Marie in her 9 years. The picture with bedroom belongs to her. Later parents will build the biggest in Poland hospital that take care of poor families’ children under name of their daughter “Anna Marie”

Obsługa chętna do pomocy. Bardzo spodobał nam się ogród na tyłach pałacu.
