Rooted in and inspired by tradition,“Hungarian Rhapsody – America” is a unique dance rhapsody displaying the most characteristic features of the genre. The dynamic variation of scenes illustrates the diversity of Hungarian ruralculture including men’s acrobatic solo dances, woman’s lyrical round dances, and virtuoso couple dances. Dances are accompanied with the most beautiful tunes of Hungarian folk culture, which are also presentedin the form of breathtaking solos and captivating instrumental intermezzos. Apart from the archaic layers of Hungarian folk music, “Hungarian Rhapsody – America” also concentrates on csárdás and verbunkos music dating back to the 19th century. These two characteristic and unmistakable new genres were powerful enough to inspire several Hungarian and foreign composers including Brahms, Berlioz, or Franz Liszt. This performance is also unique for the delicate balance it establishes between the “spectacular” and the “intellectual”. Coupled with a consequent variation of spatial arrangements, dynamic, monumental, lyrical, and gloomy parts constitute an organic unity with music and scenery. Hello, When we booked the tickets through out hotel in Budapest, we were asked what seats would we prefer and there was slight difference in the prices. We chose second row in the upper balcony.

We sat about 2/3 of the way back and it was great. The theater is small and you want to see the entire stage.

My cousin, who lives in Budapest, went to the Hungarian Heritage House to buy our tickets for us. This venue is just across the Danube in Pest, and the seating is wonderful! You might try ordering online at the Hungarian Heritage House website [Hagyományok Háza]. The information on the website is available in English...look in the upper right-hand corner to change from Magyarul to English. However, tickets are not yet available for the time you will be in Budapest. Keep checking the website in the next few weeks. Tickets will sell out quickly, and shows are not offered every day.
