Good and interesting museum. Lots of beautiful art pieces, especially I was impressed by the Soviet era paintIngs, real masterpieces. The museum itself is beautiful old building, which red carpet on grandiose stairs. Easy to walk around .

The museum is amazing, has beautiful paintings of local and non-local artists!! It's not that big, but the building is beautiful and worth a visit.

Only 2 floors open unfortunately. The exhibits that were available were short, expected more. Staff were friendly and atomphere is nice.

The building is beautiful and a lovely example of national art nouveau. Tjf exhibitions give a history of Latvian art showing the attempt to create a linear view of its history rather than the real one - which was fractured. I loved the photography exhibition by a contemporary Latvian

The Neobaroque City Art Museum was built in the Esplanade Park area in the early 20th century. The museum that had existed in the city since the mid-19th century moved to it. The museum later expanded to become the National Art Museum. Unfortunately, I only looked around the museum building from the outside, there was no time to see the collections.

An incredibly nice museum in a mighty building.
The stairs when you come in are so cool!

Great museum with focus only on Latvian art, so you got a good overview of the collection in a short time. Beautiful building, recently renovated. Tight loft room and great view from the terrace. Well worth a visit!

We really liked the building better as such than the exhibition itself. Although he has some interesting work we did not find it very striking.

The Riga National Art Museum dates from 1905 - a time when the country was still part of the Russian Empire. The collection of 52,000 objects came partly from an old collection, and has obviously grown over time.
The collection thus begins with objects from the end of the 19th century and given the history of the country we will not find da Vinci or Van Gogh! The country does not have a history of Habsburg or other collector and the art on display is local art.
But it is an excellent way of understanding the country's art movements - sometimes influenced by Western European movements - but also living through a more isolated and revolutionary period between 1945 and 1991.
Mostly paintings but also some engravings and sculptures.
No leaflet on site - download it on their website. Admission at 8 EUR which is quite correct for a few hours of diving into another artistic world.

This is a museum with a lot to offer!
Exhibitions on 5 floors, the spaces are wide and the works of art are explained in great detail by the descriptive texts next to them! So, it is probably a good idea to reserve quite a bit of time and energy for this place.
The museum offers the usual set-up: permanent exhibitions and the changing ones. Make sure that you make it all the way to the 5th floor as well to see the "Sologamy" work by Katrina Neimurga. My highlight of the visit (summer 2024)! The 2nd floor exhibition centers around Latvia's gaining freedom from The Soviet Union and how that affected the art. -1 floor exhibition is for adults only due to its openly sexual and erotic content. I found it fascinating and also educational, thought-provoking. Well done, curators!
The building is quite grand and magnificent in appearance, there is a small gift shop downstairs and a nice restaurant with access from the outside, on the park side.

Доброго,Александра.Музей работает с10 до 17.входной билет на действующую экспозицию для взрослых 3 евро для детей 0,50,отдельная может быть цена на выставки,надеюсь была полезной.удачи
