Very interesting museum to look around. Some beautiful rooms with interesting history. Definitely worth a visit when in Riga.

Really good place to visit when in Riga. I haven't' ever been to a museum like it. Visited with my partner and we bought the ticket that included a glass of fizz, and really enjoyed walking round with a drink, made you feel like you were visiting someone's house. A small museum, you won't need more than a hour to get round, really interesting and not too big that you lose sight of what you have seen. Would recommend, and good value for price too including a drink. There is also a cloakroom that you can use for free to put your coats/bags if needed.

We paid a visit to this wonderful place in February. A superb welcome by the friendly staff, we decided to partake in a glass of black basalm which you could buy alongside your entrance fee. It is a fascinating place to see, we were pleasantly surprised. The gift shop near the exit is great, extremely helpful staff who gave us some tips about where to go next in the beautiful city of Riga.

A must do when in Riga, fantastic looking building that has been rebuilt after WW2 and looks splendid in the marketplace.
There were no tours available when we visited which would have made the visit better but the exhibits were labelled and the inside is as grand as the exterior, well worth a visit.

This grand building right in the heart of town is just as stunning at night as it is in the day. It’s a must see when visiting Riga. Don’t forget to look out for the Christmas tree marker on the ground just to the right of the square which is said to show the spot where the first decorated Christmas tree in Europe stood.

The tour of the House of the Blackheads is amazing. One can glean much of the ancient and more recent history of Riga from the exhibits throughout the house. The reconstruction following the total destruction of the the building during WW2 is remarkable. There is a great deal to see in the house and our visit took far monger and was more enjoyable than expected.

German trading Societies became very strong in medieval centuries. "Black Heads" was one of them. As I understood this house was built not many years ago. The original one disappeared without traces.

I can't say I enjoyed this experience. There are 3 sections, the old ruins underground, some cabinets with glass & crystal on the ground floor and the ornate salons/halls on the first floor. I probably liked the first floor the best but with hindsight, I can think of better things to spend 7 euro on in this pretty city.

Contentez vous du beau point de vue extérieur ! A l intérieur, après une litanie de dates dans les caves d origine, uniquement une reconstitution en carton pâte façon Disney. Vraiment sans intérêt pour le prix demandé en caisse.

Hi Rebecca. I think you can. I saw a sort of wardrobe at the entrance but I am not really sure you can use it. The place itself is suitable for a visit with back pack on the shoulder (all fragile things are carefully locked :) ) but I don't think there is a vallet service. I hope this helps
