TIRED of the maddening crowds of tourist, a few days on the Peace river recharges my batteries. Paddling along the river you will see tons of birds and animals around every bend. Yes there are alligators but they don't bother anyone unless you mess with the babies or fed them. Great place for nature photography, fishing, fossiling,
sunbathing, camping and solitude. I have gone days with out seeing another person on the river.

If you never did an air boat ride, this is the place! The driver knows where the alligators are & even where babies just hatched. So cool! You don't get wet, the Peace River is shallow & it's located out in the country of the real Florida .

We did the trip by canoe to get to our camp site.
Really nice and easy to do it, so is perfect if you want to go with kids.
The staff was really organized about everything.
I highly recommend this trip!

This is a great get away for all ages. Peaceful canoeing or kayaking or even paddle boarding. River was smooth and very private. Lots of spots to stop and great operators to rent from. Highly recommended

Vorig jaar waren we hier ook, maar door de veel hogere waterstand was het een compleet andere trip. Super genoten; een aanrader, zeker als je de airboat combineert met de buggy-tour

Peace River starts in Polk County at Bartow, then winds around 106 miles to the Gulf of Mexico to Charlotte Harbour. Rent a canoe the real fun is exploring the slow moving river. You find ice age fossils, shark teeth, alligators in the water an on the shore. Birds by the dozens of species, eagles, hawks, osprey, kingfisher, bluejays, and mockingbirds. Now the chickens and turkeys are from the campgrounds on the river. Llamas and monkeys also from the campground are not native; but the otters, fox and deer are native.

My wife and I spent a day kayaking the Peace River looking for sharks teeth. Found hundreds of small one, nothing big but a nice day. Saw a few alligators, turtles, and lots of birds. If you are going to dig in the river you need a permit to be legal - but no one checked ours

I love looking for fossils and this river is full of them. This time I found hundreds of shark teeth, an alligator jaw, horse tooth, giant armadillo scute, and bird bones. I saw a few alligators but just paddled a bit away from them before getting into the river.

Where is a good place to start down the Peace river? I'm looking to find sharks teeth and kayak. What about the fishing through here? I want to make a full day of this?

You want to dig where you see gravel. The sand will produce very little teeth. I usually kayak till I see gravel or poke at the sand with a rod till I feel gravel. Starting at any river entrance close to Arcadia is good bet.

Bonjour à vous,
Nous sommes 2 retraités depuis peu et cherchons un endroit pour louer une maison mobile à Fort Peace, un endroit qui nous a été recommandé puisqu`on y parle français et nous sommes Québécois.
Nous avons un petit chien qui nous accompagne partout !...
Idéalement, nous aim erions connaître les prix et les disponibilités pour Janvier ou Février- ou Mars 2016
