Actually, there ARE falls in Klamath Falls... but not as you would normally consider. The town was originally called "Linkville" because the Link River "linked" the Upper Klamath River to the Lower Klamath Lake. On this river, there were some "dips" and some rifts of water flowing over rock tables. They city fathers around the turn of the last century wanted wealthy financiers from back east to invest in the town. They knew no one would ever invest in "Linkville," so they decided to make it sound like a resort town and call it Klamath Fallls. Their ruse worked and the town began to blossom. A walk on the Link River trail will reveal the dips in the river that the town was named for. One thing that will be noted is that the waters are highly eutrophic, meaning that there are significant algae blooms present. This is partially due to the warmth of the water which is heated by thermal activity. Much of he algae is harvested and sold as a health supplement. So, yes Virginia, there are falls in Klamath Falls. However, they might not be as significant or beautiful as one might imagine.
