The makers of this statue assumes that the visitor knows everything. It is not a good assumption. Put in more literature that tells everyone what a great man he is.

C’est poignant, mais cela semble un peu juste pour honorer la mémoire de cet homme hors du commun .
Est ce un message assez fort pour faire comprendre l’importance de la cause qu’il servait et qui illustre un des problèmes majeurs aux usa encore aujourd’hui

The Martin Luther King, Jr. Memorial is a must see...historical, memorable, emotional...all of that and more...when in D.C. just go visit !!!
set aside a good 30 minutes to stroll the memorial...and more likely up to an hour...even more if you have keen interest and the number of tourists

I wanted to go back in the daytime, we went at night and it was super crowded but so awe-inspiring. The sculpture and quotes and the way everything is laid out is really perfect. I am so glad that I didn't miss this!

I'm not sure words do this justice. It was incredible. The unbelievable detail of his form coming out of the mountain, the way it splits and he's coming out of the center. It's truly remarkable.

This is an amazing memorial, with wonderful lighting at night. This is a must see stop and was part of the Moonlight tour that we did.

So striking to see MLK carved from the "mountain of despair", loved the quote wall and that you can see the Jefferson at night. We saw this as part of a night time tour, highly recommend.

On these hallowed grounds, it’s only fitting to have such a marvelous display of a man that stood on the shoulders of giants and accomplished so much during his lifetime. Sharing this experience with family, made it all that much more meaningful.
This is a must see memorial site, plan for ideal parking in advance and wear some comfortable clothes and walking shoes for touring the National Mall.

Came to this monument during a daylong visit of the National Mall. I not only loved the carved portrait--as a work of art it is gorgeous--but also found it a fitting tribute to one of the most famous figures in US modern history.

The admission is free. The parking is limited and it is meter parking. I might suggest using the underground Subway to get around. Traffic can be trying. Since you are going to DC I might suggest the African History museum. Contact them ahead of time for tickets. They are free but not a viable on the spot. If you know a veteran they do not have to wait in line.
