The team at Van Curaza surf school was amazing, they had both me and my kids up and surfing within an hour of hitting the water!

What an amazing experience!!! Perfect way to start your day:) I simply showed up at Avila, was quickly fitted with a wetsuit and with simple & clear instruction from Jaden I was standing up on my first try!! Can’t wait to go again!!

I brought all 7 of my Grandkids ages 8-14 for a one day surf camp. Chris and crew were ready for us , got the kids outfitted in wet suits and boards in no time. They were very kind and organized. The kids had a ball! Everyone was surfing by the end of the day. They all loved it! We will definitely be bringing them back again.

I had a private lesson with Sam Wright on 11/11 and he did an outstanding job. Arrived early and got me set up with a wetsuit and board. His instruction once we were in the water was very helpful and I was able to ride a number of waves. (Which isn’t a given for a 59 year old who has never surfed!). My thanks to Sam for a great lesson!

Sam was AMAZING. Kind, personable, funny, professional and a great teacher. He took care to ensure everyone’s comfort and safety as well as provide individual coaching. Thanks for a great experience! Highly recommend.

Ellie was awesome. All of us newbies, from age 11 to 48 had a blast and were successful in catching waves getting up on the boards. Highly recommend!

My daughter and her friend (ages 13) went for 2 days. There was only 6-8 other kids on each day with 2 instructors. The girls loved the instructors, Chris and Sarah. They got them surfing in no time. They also taught them about safety like how to look for rip currents. The only bad thing was the girls got blistering sunburns on their faces on the first day. That was their own fault, of course. Avila Beach is the ideal place to learn. The beach has lifeguards, bathrooms and is easy to access. The waves are usually very small. It’s perfect.

We are from London so very new to surfing! My 2 girls had a lovely time. The instructor was friendly and a great teacher. The highlight of their california trip so far! Would highly recommend!

As 2 70+ beginner surfers, we are a bit out of the norm. Van Curaza Surf School treated us well and helped me overcome my many fears. Very professional and patient. Great equipment.It was a wonderful experience and I have already booked another lesson

Had such a great time and felt so comfortable trying something new at almost 30 years old. The water was perfect for a beginner to learn. The instructor was fun and engaging. And we had the added bonus of Van taking photo and video which was so sweet and kind of him! Thanks to all who made this such a fun experience.
