Great experience near the Ashcroft Mining town.

Great to talk to the naturalist at the center and taking in the views of Castle Creek. Great selection of hand-woven rugs from Mexico. Trevor will share the background of each piece and especially describe the had carved works. Always worth a visit to Ashcroft and don't miss stopping in to the Catto Center.

Worth the Trip

Wonderful to learn a bit more about mountain life and the amazing commitment to preservation and stewardship by the Mace family. What a fantastic way to connect with the outdoors and be reminded of the importance of responsibility and connection.

Surprised and happy!

Usually just drive by on our way up to Pine Creek Cook house, decided to stop today and were very happy we did. Learned a lot about the builder of the original log cabin in 1948 by Stuart Mace and his founding of ACES.Elena was very generous explaining the weaving techniques for her carpets and other wares. They also had a great representation of leather goods that were hand made by Trevor Washko, who also shared the history of the property. Little know fact, dog sleds brought building materials to the site to build the log cabin. These huskies also were Television stars appearing in Sargent Preston of the Yukon. A MUST stop!

Lovely historic art gallery near the ghost town of Ashcroft

Summer visit or winter visit, always enjoyable. The Pine Creek Cook House near for lunch or dinner. In winter can make a day of it with XC skies, visit galley and also have lunch, a lovely day in the historic region of Ashcroft.

something unique

In our visit of Aspen in 2011, we had the opportunity to stop at this lodge, share the family history of Mace family.

There was this Mexican lady from Zapotec drive that I believe Mr. Mace sponsored and brought her to USA. We bought a hand weaved carpet and learned the Zapotec art of spinning, color etc... We still have the bugs from which they used to make a certain dark color for the carpet.

I truly enjoy these small places that are hidden away from the public.

If someone shares this same urge - it is truly cool to stop by.
