Cave tubing is the best thing to do while there. We had to take a hopper back over to Belize City because we were staying on the cambridge islands. I forget the guys name who took us there, but he was great and informative. There was one place in the cave where it opened up and it looked like a picture from a movie. The sun shown down on what looked like a garden from paradise. It was just beautiful! The water was a bit cold at first, but once you get use to it, it's not bad since Belize is so humid and hot. We did this tour with the ruins included. The price was fare, and well worth it. Must cave tube if in Belize!! BTW....you stop off to eat during this tour and the food is included in the price for everything.

picked us up from cruise ship,quickly and organized.
The tour guide David was great,knowledgeable,friendly and funny.It was a very interactive tour. Country side was beautiful.When we got to the cave our cave guide was amazing,Deryk was very knowledgeable, we learned so much. Definitely a must do if in magnificent Belize.

I drove with a group to do these excursions ....and am glad I did. First we hiked up through the humid jungle to a platform where they quickly train you to zip line...then hiked a bit further to the first platform where you zip off into the cool humid breeze 200 feet above the ground. I'm scarred of heights but this was awesome! After we finished we were able to cool of cave tubing. I agree the safety gear takes away some of the fun, but better safe than sorry. Overall an excellent experience.

It takes a long time from ship to get to this excursion. You take a 75 minute bus ride out of town and then have to walk another 25 minutes carrying tube. Floating on tube is neat but caves are just ok. Nothing like the pictures you see on line. They are dark and your head light only provides so much light. The tour guides speak great english and are very helpful.
This will be a very crowded excursion. Very slow paced for children. Many kids will be bored to tears.
Unless you have water proof camera you should not take camera with you. Tour operators will take pictures and sell you CD when done.

So I'll give them 2 stars due to the zip lining, which was fantastic. Bak a Bush also provided our tubing adventure. But...I use that term adventure liberally. The guides were great as far as safety was concerned, and I do thank them for that. But the new rules about wearing safety equipment, as somebody put it, 'ruined the experience!' I've tubed JP more times than I can count, and while we've had to take a life jacket before, we've never had to wear it unless we wanted to. This time, not only did we have to wear a constraining safety jacket, but we also had to wear a helmet, and water shoes! We had a small group, and after it was all said and done, we spent more time getting and putting on safety equipment than we did on the river. No joke.
I wouldn't use Bak A Bush again. I do understand the need for safety, but there are times when it is so overdone, that it's not worth even doing the activity. This was one of those time. We had a group, and one child was smaller than the over-sized tube they wanted her to use; she would've had an impossible time steering.
When we were told that just to swim in the swimming area, without the tubes, that we still had to have our life jackets and helmets on, we decided to just blow off what the guides said from that point on, and took off the jackets anyways. We were told that this will be a new rule for all guides, not just the resort there, but I have asked independent guides since if that was the case, and apparently it is not. So I'd recommend to go to the JP national park - not the JP resort - and get a guide there.

We used Bak-A-Bush for cave tubing in Belize and really enjoyed the experience. The tour guides during the drive to the location were very informative and presented really well. Our guide while in the caves, Michael, was really informative as well and showed a genuine interest in making our experience the best it could be. My only complaint would be that the other tours from different tour operators were very disruptive. I am glad we used Bak-A-Bush and not one of the others!
