What an amazing Excursion.
The crew took us out to the reef to snorkel they made sure everybody was safe they put us in the appropriate groups.
Since I had never snorkeled before and not a strong swimmer they made sure guide stayed with me.
Once he seen I was fine in the water he helped a few others that may have been struggling and they did take one gentleman back in the kayak to the boat.
They knew where to snorkel they showed us sharp starfish they showed us conch.
Amazing experience the crew was delightful polite respectful they danced with us then took us to starfish Island where we could just kick back relax or swim play volleyball eat or drink beautiful little Island if you do not take this excursion you are missing the thrill of a lifetime and the experience of a lifetime with the crew that generally helps make your trip.

The spot we went to snorkel, off the island, was very choppy and we didn't see as many fish/coral as we have other places. It could've just been the day.
The manmade island is pretty, but the swimming and snorkeling on the island is not ideal. The water is chest deep and not clear. The food is ok and the bathrooms smell.
You can see many starfish and collect lots of shells as you walk around! They have a full bar and serve coconut water as they collect them from the palms. The boat ride back to our ship made this trip! Between the drinks, entertaining staff, music and dancing, we had a good time.

We really enjoyed our excursion at this tiny little island. Food was good, restrooms were clean. Go early as cruise line excursions start to crowd the area.

We got off the ship and the men who were on board of starfish island were amazing. They absolutely made out trip. When we went snorkeling they helped my husband and I see new creatures up close. They were also very patient when my mask wouldn't work. At the island the food was amazing. The island itself was clean and beautiful. I enjoyed it the most...out of anywhere we went. When we were coming back to the ship the men turned up the music and we all danced above the ship. This experience was great!! Thank you guys!!

This is my 9th cruise and I have done many excursions in the past. This is by far the worst! We were stuck on this "beach" with no way of returning back to the ship for 4 hours. The water is murky and dirty feeling. It is not clear and you have no clue what's under you. The sand is fragmented shells which stick to your clothing and shoes and it makes it very rough on your feet. We ordered drinks from our lounge chairs and after paying $20 for 2 drinks we realized there was no alcohol in them even though the menu stated so. We asked the bartender about it and she said she "wasn't sure if there was alcohol". People were literally running to the boat that takes you back to the ship when it was time to return. I'm shocked that this is even offered as an excursion! Never again!!

We had a stop here as part of our cruise snorkeling excursion. It is a manmade island so the beach area is not that great. There are bathrooms, plenty of beach chairs, sand volleyball, a restaurant and a very small souvenir shop. It was OK to spend about an hour here after our snorkeling adventure, but I would not book this as an excursion on its own. There are definitely better beaches/keys to visit in Belize.

We went with our family and my In laws. Everyone loved it! They had a great play area for small kids, a starfish and conch pool, chairs galore and a small beach area. We rented a kayak for $10 for 30 minutes. The water was so calm and we were able to go pretty far. The bar was great and the food was even better. The chicken gravy that they put over the coconut rice and beans was amazing. The sand is a little rough. A teen on our excursion was playing soccer barefooted on the beach and cut it toe pretty deep. They had a nurse stand on the beach. Things like that must happen pretty often.

We booked this tour through Royal Caribbean. We were taken from the ship by a boat to the island.
The views were great, water clear, plenty of chairs, few hammocks, sand had many small shells so it hurt to walk barefoot, cash bar was available, food that was included was terrible. Bathrooms ere clean and there were separate changing stalls. There was an area with starfish where you could enter the shallow water and pick up the starfish.
Karaoke was available and bad singing spoiled our good time. There was an Elvis impersonator singing at the bar.

Shore excursion from Liberty of the Seas. I wish I would have read the reviews before we booked this excursion. Man made island with very rough beach. Lots of tiny broken shells. The food was ok but the bath rooms were located next to the eating area and was very smelly! It rained several times while we were there and we had no way to get back to the ship till our 4 hours were over. Do not go to this beach with the intention of snorkeling or diving. The swimming area is about as wide as a football field wide and the water is about chest deep at the most.

Uma pequena ilha do Caribe, próxima a Belize, que nos foi apresentada como Starfish Island. Desembarcamos do Cruzeiro e, ao chegar na ilha, vimos que ela é realmente muito pequena. A faixa de mar liberada para os banhistas é muito estreita e rasa, sendo delimitada por uma rede que impede a entrada de qualquer vida marinha. Assim, se você quiser ver peixes, compre um pacote específico de snorkel.
No mais, a ilha possui uma infraestrutura razoável, com um bom bar (petiscos, drinks e cervejas locais), banheiros, aluguel de caiaque, rede de volei na água, lojinha, uma pequena estação de primeiros socorros e muitas cadeiras de praia.
A parte mais divertida foi um sósia do Elvis que alegrou a tarde.
Enfim, é um passeio ideal para quem quer ficar de bobeira na praia, tomando sol e tomando uma cerveja.

I've seen some fairly recent reviews of Starfish Island that were not good at all! We had planned to book a snorkel beach excursion day with RC until we saw the bad reviews. I know you can't please everyone all the time but can someone tell me if a large part of the island is concrete? Is there something to do besides lay on the beach? I hard even the volleyball court was concrete and the staff at the bar were slow and rude and assumed tips by not giving change.
That is why we deiced to search for our own. Can anyone clear up these remarks I've seen?

Don't go hungry. The food that was part of the package wasn't all that good. We waited for an hour at the bar so we could order burgers, and ended up getting on the boat before they were ever willing to take our order. One of the worst excursions we've ever been on.

We booked through Carnival. You can do it online through Carnival (if that is the line you are cruising on) or you can take a chance and wait until you get onboard. Be careful though, it could sell out.

I believe we went to Bannister island on a snorkeling//beach excursion about 5 years ago. I am going to be in Belize next week on NCL and would love to have this experience again. I have not been able to find any tour companies that provide excursion to this place. Someone said it is now a "private" island and only carnival guests can go here????? Please let me know if this is true. I'd love to find an excursion here.

We also booked through Carnival and everything was taken care of. The boat ferry ride over, lunch, boat ferry ride back, etc. I believe it was the owner of the island's employees that took care of the ferry ride, etc. No worries! You will enjoy if you are looking for a peaceful, relaxing day on a "private" island. It truly is that small!
