Such an informative, hands-on experience! George was a knowledgeable guide who shared many facts about green iguanas and the project’s conservation efforts. It was so cool interacting with the adult and baby iguanas.

Fun way to see the iguanas up close. It was a little hard to find but just south of western dairy. The kids loved it.

Spent a couple of hours here as we had lunch because we had a while to wait for the next tour. We walked here from cabal peche and then walked into San Ignacio after the tour - you don’t need to have transport wait for you.
Extremely worthwhile cause and a very informative visit. Got to hold the iguanas which they keep in captivity (because they can’t be released) and also saw their breeding programme and the next set about to be released.

We lucked out here and got a private tour as no one was on the tour besides us. Tours run every hour, on the hour, and last just under sixty minutes. Very much educational and a hands on tour with us having the ability to touch, hold and feed the endangered iguanas. You will also have the ability to feed them.

This place is amazing! They do such good work for the protection of the species. We had a 45 minute tour and the guide was so knowledgeable and friendly! The iguanas are cool little creatures and it was so fun meeting them and feeding them 🦎

A fun and informative little tour contributing to conservation and local projects for The Green Iguana. A big thank you to Rudolfo for teaching us all about the Green Iguana and letting us meet your iguana friends. We got to hold them too which is fun as you could never do this with wild one’s. Located in the San Ignacio hotel so theres parking available and you can get a great cocktail before or after (tours done every hour on the hr) at the bar, beautiful local artwork to see as well.

100% worth a trip for anyone in San Ignacio. Tours go on the hour, and costs around $15 pp. our guide was so informative, and we learnt a lot about this wonderful endangered species. You can feed the adults by hand, and hold the babies too.

George was our guide, and he was very patient and knowledgeable. We were able to learn more about the conservation of green iguanas and why it's so important there. We also learned about black iguanas and just how vastly different they are. Plus, we were allowed to hold some!

San Ignacio queda a unas horas de Belize. Es un pais pequeño. Creeria que cualquier operador te llevaria pero no vale la pena el viaje, son pocas iguanas verdes, a las iguanas negras no las ves porque salen de noche, el recorrido por el lugar es corto y costoso, aunque si te animan a interactuar con las iguanas , pero en el zoo de Belize las podes ver libres cerca del estanque.

Hi Elisa, the Green Iguana Conservation Project was created for several reasons. One was to conserve the threatened species here in Belize and to educate people on the importance of not over hunting the Green Iguana.
